I just spoke to P.C. World about my pre-order that still hasn't arrived and apparently Nintendo have told them that they are not going to release them again on mass until 31st Jan as they have been modifying them. They have been told that the sensor on the wiimote will be more accurate along with a couple of other modifications, so they told me that we will be better off waiting rather than trying to get left over stock from the xmas batch. Ijust thought this might be of interest to people who are still trying to get one.

It could be but are you speaking from the position of already having one because obviously I could understand that would annoy you. However it does seem possible as most stores have only recieved handfuls of wiis and most stores are also saying mid to end of jan for the next big delivery.

Sounds like PCWorld all over 'fob them off and keep the preorder!'.

I'd keep your eye out elsewhere, the Dixons group have taken way too many preorders from what i've seen.

There may be a delay if they are having to change the straps on all the remotes for the stronger ones on stock that should be coming out now which is a modification of sorts.

A newer, better, modified version released just not even 2 months after launch?

    Hahaha, hahaha, good one.

And PC World you say? Well there ya go. Blatant bs from the last place I'd ever rely on for info of this kind.

Its possible but I cant see it, I think its BS also and they are just trying to keep your pre-order.

The Wii has been in development for years and its unlikely that they would make changes so early in its life cycle in my opinion unless there was a BIG problem which I've never read anything about.

I would think of key importance is to standardize all consoles to ensure there is no variance in game play, also, its been out longer in the US/JAP and I've not read anything about model changes there who would undoubtedly get them first.

    I'd say it's rubbish for 4 reasons:

    1) We've heard nothing whatsoever about this from any other source. Considering the security around such news these days resembles a particularly hole-filled sieve I somehow doubt it would break with this source.

    2) The specific reason given for the delay, the 'improved sensor in the wiimote', has not been listed by anyone, anywhere as an issue, major or otherwise. While I could accept a company making such an incremental update to a product as part of the regular production cycle I don't for one second believe that they would risk hard-won momentum for what would effectively be a product recall for all the units they could have made / sold in the next four weeks.

    3) Other countries are receiving shipments of wii-goodness as we speak, yet the UK is having all production suspended to produce a version 1.1? Hmm, doubtful.

    4) It's the Dixons group. They've order-allocated not once, not twice but thrice with Currys, PC World and Dixons. This means that where, say, Game can fill pre-orders from its allocations relativley quickly Dixons has to split their allocation three ways.

Honestly if I were in your position I'd call them back and get them to put that statement on a company letterhead and send it to you. If it turns out to be BS send a copy to either your local store or PC World Head Office along with a threatening letter and see what the reaction is. If nothing else it'll pass the time until your pre-order is ready for you and you might just get some compensation.

Deary me the stories that deluded and underinformed staff make up.

Here's a good one - I asked in my local Game (Croydon) for a Wii console the week before Xmas and he told me that Nintendo "aren't that interested in making any more because they have already made all the profit they need from the last batch".

it makes sence start getting the wii's supplied with the thicker staps and selling them this way.
then keep selling with the thinner straps and having then do this.

That is the biggest piece of nonesense that I have heard in ages! :rotfl:

Nintendo's Wii production will have been running at full pelt since it began and there is no way that they will have stopped all that, gone back to the drawing board to make some design changes (even if just to the sensor bar) and then restarted production again.

No, you're wrong, the next version that's being released is the PooS3 from Nintendo...available only at PC World.

Or should I say PooC World?

Jeez! What's with all the scorn and derision aimed at PC-World? They have a job to do and a service to sell, and as far as I have personally seen, do both to the best of their ability.

Bullying the elderly, infirm, naive and gullible into purchasing Extortion Sucker Payments Extended Service Plans, is a difficult and worthy skill, and I for one applaud their efforts!

    So lay off ppl!
