To try and cover all the bases I plan to add an LG GGW-H20L optical drive to pretty much complete things. Then I will be connecting it all up to my Samsung LE40M87BDX LCD TV via a DVI to HDMI adaptor as well as my ageing but trusty Samsung Synchmaster 151S tft screen via DVI to VGA. I have absolutely no interest at all in pc gaming and so apart from a very low level of microsoft office use i.e spreadsheets and the occasional letter, as well as e-mail and occassional surfing the main intended use of this system will be for downloading and watching hi def material and also watching pre-recorded blu-ray and hd movies via my LCD TV.

I also subscribe to Sky's full HD package and would like to be able to record/backup broadcasts on this system's hard drive but I think I'm right in thinking that any such recordings would be SD only on playback?

Also I'm not sure whether to add the satellite capture card which pcs offer as a £24 option on this configuration or if there are any better alternative cards out there in the marketplace which I'd be better off sourcing and fitting myself?

Finally on looking at some of these satellite capture cards I notice that they have a digital co-ax input so can anybody tell me is there a a way of splitting the digital feed from my sky dish to both my HD box and the capture card on my pc as I take it you cannot connect them in series or is what I'm trying to achieve not possible?

Any observations/tips/advice on my proposed set up or answers to any of my queries regarding satellite capture/connection listed above will be gratefully received.

    TIA

If this only for HD and media files you could save money by going for a slower processor. A 2.2 or 2.4 core 2 duo should do you fine.
Graphics card is the same as i have and works fine for HD files and Blu ray.
If its of any interest i just changed from Vista ultimate to home premium when i built my new pc and have not really noticed any difference if you wanted to save a few pounds.
Not sure on the satellite cards.
