Just spotted this post on Chris Laniers blog about Media Centre Extenders:

http://thegreenbutton.com/blogs/chris_blog/archive/2006/06/17/121154.aspx

I know its an old post (June 17th) but I thought it would be worth mentioning.

Interesting bits I thought where:

OEM's should be aware that consumers are looking for Extenders that take full advantage of the EM8622L processor.

The EM8622L supports the following formats…

MPEG-4 Part 10 (H.264)
VC-1 (WMV9)
MPEG-2
MPEG-4 Part 2 (DivX/XviD)
Dolby Digital
WMA/WMA Pro
MPEG-1/2 Audio
AAC
MP3
And more!

Interesting to see that MS are planning on having DVD player and Digital TVs with built in Media Centre Extenders, see this:

and this diagram:

nice !

Just found this also if you fancy building one !
