I have just read in What Hi-Fi (August) that Marantz are bringing out new receivers - SR4300, SR5300, SR6300, SR7300. Does anybody have any more information?

No more info, but would be interested in the specs.

I hope that the quality control is better than on the last bunch.

Several problems with units across the range from clicks with DTS on the 4200 to video problems on the 5200 or 6200 (can't remember exactly which one).

Yeah I read that too. Wonder what the difference will be. Might have to wait a while to see whether they're worth it :)

Spoke with Marantz and they claim some time in September.

Not sure I can wait that long though...

A September release should mean that there should be some good prices for last year's models going about soon.

They got these amps over at www.avland.co.uk now. There isn't much in the way of specifications at the moment though. They look bascically the same as the older models.

Just had a look on avland and noticed that the new models have DTS-ES Discrete added to their specifications.

It looks like they still do not have true 7.1 surround.

The 5300 has SRS circle surround if you look at the picture in what hifi closely.

No, it's nothing to do with it, sorry for the confusion. SRS Circle Surround is a way of making a stereo signal into surround sound (like Dolby Pro Logic / DPLII or DTS NEO 6). As to which is best for this perpose, it's debateable!

The picture in What Hifi is the 4300 - it seems to be equipped with CS5.1, rather than the more recent and more powerful CSII - for a supposedly 6.1 capable receiver, it seems a strange decision to go for CS at all if you aren't going to use the 6.1 version, CSII (which also has other advancements over CS5.1)

Probably don't want to pay for the licensing of the newer system I suspect.

I'd wait for the full specs to become public first before jumping the gun about what each model may or may not have over it's predecessor - it wouldn't be the first time What Hifi and the like have got stuff like this wrong (whether it's their fault or not).
