Moved into this new flat in September, after getting loadsa work done to the place i finally got round to sorting my home cinema set up out.....

    Samsung PS42Q97HDX 42" Plasma
    Samsung HT-X30R Home Cinema System
    Sky+
    Xbox 360
    Nintend Wii

Just need the PS3 to finish it off now...:D

Changes made to set up as of 22/08/2008

Swapped my Brother my Samsung HT-X30R Home Cinema System and he gave me his Samsung HD-870 DVD player, did this as i also bought a Onkyo TX-SR506 AV Reciever and Onkyo SKS-HT518 speaker package. Also added Sky HD and you can see added a PS3 too and built a HTPC...think its safe to say thats me finished with my set up...phew! :D

I'd mount the speakers to the wooden back plate to bring them down in height a bit, otherwise nice.

yeah i agree they are high but my options are to mount them on the back board which means they would be behind the tv and out of sight or mounting on the wall either side of the unit....if i had thought it out better i would have ran the speaker cable inside the wall before we finished decorating. Last house i had was a doddle for doing that very thing, had my LCD up on the wall and all the cables were easily routed behind as it was a double layered plasterboard wall...in this house they are all brick walls, pain in the bum raggling it all

    Nice

Funnily enough, i bought the exact same unit as yours from Littlewoods Direct, only they delivered the wrong part to me, so its being refunded

Looks nice, although the position of the speaker shelf is way too high.

And am i the only one to notice the score on PES2008?? hehe

That's a tidy setup. Doesn't your sub get hit by the door (or is it a cupboard on the left)?

PES2008 is on Spongo mode, hence the ridiculous score line.

We're careful with the door, we tend to leave it open but try telling that to my 2 year old who thinks its fun with the banging sound it makes when swinging the door off it...:D

    Hi

Surely you could run the speaker cable for the L & R behind the unit and up to half way up where the TV is, and then wall mount the speakers close to the unit with the cables just poking out from the side of the unit, it would be undetectable if you did it right.

Then just put the center either directly on top of the TV with cable pushing through the unit or place it infront of the tv.

My 2 cents, other than looks nice mate, good job.

Looks great, though I don't think I'd be comfortable having my consoles on the floor.

Yeah I can see the unit is full and money for a new one doesn't grow on trees. Looks like you keep the room really clean anyway, so dust isn't a big issue and they're in the corner out of tripping/kicking danger.

How does your Sky HD box do for over heating? It looks a very tight fit and I know they get extremely hot on top. Mine is inside a cabinet with loads of room and ventilation and its still hot.

It does get hot but no hotter than the sky+ box that was in there for months before that, pretty much everything that fits in the tv unit is quite tight for space, could really do with getting a new unit, my 360 died for the second time just recently and i think that was due to over heating when it sat in the unit, as you see its sitting on the floor now but its too bloody noisy

Been thinking of getting something like as my wall is not suitable for mounting my 42", how easy was it to attach the bracket?

Have always been a bit apprehensive when it comes to the whole mounting work.

attaching the actual bracket to the back board was a doddle, i just drilled holes and mounted it with 6 8mm bolts. i made sure the actual unit was solid though, after i fitted the bracket i held on to it and leaned back to see if it would take my body weight (all 14 and a half stone) before i put the plasma on it. In my last house the walls were all plasterboard and on certain walls it was double skinned so it was easy to mount the tv and run cables inside the cavity space, this flat is different though, all the walls are brick walls and i didn't want to go along the lines of wraggling a channel in my wall to hide my cables, stupidly though i actually had to get one of the walls skimmed as some work was done to the living room but i had bought this unit just berofe that :(

Does it have rubber feet on the end it stands on? If not, I'd say attaching a few of your own would reduce the noise quite a lot (I assume it's noise cause by vibrations when the disc drive speeds up to seek data).
