Nice prices - but I didn't preorder, so wouldn't be able to jump on this anyway! :(

Thing that got me in their previous pricing email was that one of the reasons it was £275 was that it costs money for them to wait in a queue to get more psp's. So Ive got my invoice ready for waiting in the pre-order queue ;)

Had to laugh at it though and still have to laugh at the rip off prices (still over 120% profit in those prices) as the managing director of lik-sang drives away in his porshe 911 turbo as he repeatedly states that lik-sang are not in the business of marking up prices.

Well, try raven games in Kent as another example. They were knocking them out at £400!

Doesnt surprise me at all Gibb. A friend of mine in Italy tried to sell me one from his shop for €510. It will never change either unless we stop paying those inflated prices then they will have no other option as to bring the price down.

They could have sod the lot at $1000 a pop from the initial batch.

While there are people out there which a $1000 doesn't mean anything to, they will sell.

Funny thing is everyone thought the PSP was going to be around the £250 mark when it was announced, and people would pay it, now they are £250 but people know they only cost £100 everyone is moaning, why is it suddenly worth less to you?

everyone was guessing at £250, there is a difference. Sony never released the price until the very last minute, also, of course everyone is moaning paying 150% more than they should be, arent you ? --

I havent and I havent saw anyone else saying its not worth that much, were, or at least most of us chose not to pay that amount as were not stupid.

I wouldnt say someone is stupid for paying the current asking prices.

If they want to buy one for £250+ then its their choice and seeing as they work just as hard to earn their money as everyone else, let them spend it on what makes them happy

I do agree that it is not fair to call them stupid. If it wasn't for a quirk of fate (I got made redundant the day before I saw them at £400) I probably would have paid that. I have paid more than that for my current phone!

However, I do think that the mark up is too much. If i had the money, I would pay £180 tomorrow. I don't think that that is unreasonable for an imported machine.

sorry guys, it wasnt a personal attack on anyone when i said 'stupid' - but i'll still stand by what i said, if something has an r.r.p of around £95-£100 i dont think paying 300% on top of that price very sensible or even double the price. To me thats not even giving money away, thats throwing it away.

But quite rightly, as risky said, if people earn their cash then of course its totally upto them how they chose to spend it.

One other thing though, Gibb, your not paying imported prices though mate. Your paying vastly hiked prices because of short supply excuses and they are raking it in so why change....Real import prices are what you should be paying from lik-sang for the nintendo ds for example. Why didnt that go for £300+ - because it wasnt hyped as much, sony are brilliant at marketing and creating this hype, importers love making a ***** load of money from hype and we fall for it.

It is a ripp off and I would never pay it considering how many problems the first batch of PSP are having.
What if you pay all that money and then find your machine has a scratch (like mine did) or the pixels die off?

I paid the asking price on the release day (26000 yen or 130quid for the value pack) and I still felt ripped off considering I had to return it for a new one coz of the scratch.

Besides, appart from Ridge Racers and Vampire chronicles there nowt else out just now.
Save your pennies and get it when it comes out in your country!

I waited until they dropped under the £300 mark.

Early pre-orders a Raven were lucky at £250.

Yes, you could wait, but I think even when US release happens you will end up paying around £199.

IMO anyone that paid £400 for a pack worth £100-130 has more money than sense. And if they don't have a lot of money then ...... It's only a handhled for gods sake. There are about 2 games worth buying for it, and nothing that you can't already play on your PS2. Better off waiting for the PAL release when the PSP's £150 or less, and there's a decent range of titles. Personally I'm more than happy with my XBox, GC and SP. :)

It's an obscene waste of money when you consider that if you waited til March for a PSP, you'd save £250. I'd rather donate that £250 to the Tsunami fund? Ok, so you have to wait 2/3 months but so what. Is it really that important. Surely people have other things they can do in their lives rather than play computer games. Perhaps (shock horror) read a book instead. That £250 will do a hell of a lot more for people stuggling without food, shelter, water etc. :)

I don't think you have DVDNUT, you wanted it, could afford it and thought, why not?

People say it is a waste of money, but not really, xmas is a waste of money. I took some friends out for dinner the wednesday before xmas at a cost of £450, very good evening and great food, but, it was gone in the morning. If I had bougt a PSP I would still have something to show.
Xmas eve we spent around £150, boxing day went out for lunch, another £100, on the Tuesday we went ice skating, meal and theatre, another £200. So that is another PSP.
Lets not even get started on how much was wasted on new years eve!!

What I am trying to get at is this, we all waste money, somethings we don't consider a waste, other things we know are a waste but really don't care.
This is the first time a console has launched, since the Super Famicom, where I have not felt the need to buy it immediately. And considering it has Ridge Racers on it is pretty good going, I spent £650 on a Jap PS with Ridge racer just to play that game, was that a waste? no way, I played that constantly for about 5 years or so, so 5 years worth of entertainment for the price of 5 nights out. Bargain!! ;)

Thanks for that gizlaroc, it is nice to have something to show for your money, especially if it is a PSP or DS.

I bought my kids (and me) a DS for Christmas, we all love 'em, even the wife keeps having sneaky goes on Mario. I had secretly been playing my DS before Christmas (so not to spoil it for the kids).
PSP came and although I still love the DS, the PSP was soooooo worth it, the screen is so sharp, graphics on RR so much superior, and you can see that the lack of touch screen has been more than compensated for by the awesome processing power.

Apolgies for the rant, what people do with their money is their own choice. Not up to me to say what's what. Just makes no sense to me to pay £400 just to have something straight away, that in a month will be less than £200. So a months use of your PSP and limited games has cost you £200 effectively. That's why I feel it a waste of money. Still, as you say, we all waste money in different ways and then look to justify it.

:hiya: It really isn't a waste, so long as the person who is paying is happy with his or hers (see that PC :lesson: ) purchase, That is what really matters. I for one still think is madness. So long as the DVDNUT is happy that's all that matters.
