Rang avalon lighting on sunday to request a custom made light fitting for dolby atmos speakers, the guy on the phone said send the details in and we can do you a light fitting, rang them this morning to see if they got my e-mail they said yes and to give them as much information as possible, so i sent them a new email more detailed this morning, they have my e-mail address and telephone number and i have not heard anything off them yet, i am panicking a bit because i don't want to wait untill next week to find that they haven't done anything, but on the other hand i don't want to pester then either, so i'm not sure what to do.

So you're saying that it's been, what, 6 hours? since you submitted further information to them and they've not responded to you yet?

I hate to point it out but you may not be their only customer...

If you have an urgent timescale then have you communicated this to them? I would expect that you would need to pay additional costs if you require a rush job.

can you tell me exactly what you are wanting as I'm not sure what you mean when you ask for a new light fitting for Atmos

are you wanting a fitting that also houses speakers, sorry if that sounds. bit odd but I lost ATM

Yes i'm expecting the Denon AVR-X2200W tomorrow (i hadn't planned on purchasing it just yet) and i live in a rented flat so i am incorporating two minx min12 speakers into a light fitting so i won't be able to use my reciever untill i get my light fitting. :(

its up to you but their is nothing to stop you purchasing the avr when your ready and using it without the Atmos speakers coupled up

I`m more interested in the speaker/light fitting layout/position tbh

Not ideal i know (excuse the pun) but i don't have a lot of choice if i want atmos, surely something is better than nothing.

Depending on how this light fitting is going to take i may be tempted to use the denon amp sooner.

Oddly enough I was thinking to myself the other day how neat it would be to have a light fitting with a built-in speaker.
I know it would be a compromise sonically, but would certainly solve a problem for people who don't want/can't have normal ceiling speakers.

Let us know how you get on please.

It sounds this idea will need to involve some sort of custom design, which won't be cheap or easy (especially going from the prices in the 'bespoke' section of that website!).

Placement of the speaker/light will also be important - is it in the right place currently?

How are you going to send the audio signal to the speakers? You will either need to run a cable to them somehow (which I presume you would not want on-wall) or run a bluetooth/wireless setup, which will involve Active rather than Passive speakers, which will be heavier and more expensive.

FWIW I would be inclined to think it is a lot of hard work for a rented place!

Again not ideal i will have to run the cable up the wall (they will be visible), i have gone for cambridge audio ultra bi-wire cable which i will run the four cables up the wall then split them into two once they get to the light fitting.

Are you talking about speakers that are built into lights?

Could you provide us with a link to such a device?

Are the Light Fixtures already in place? Where are those light fixtures relative to the location of the amp and the screen.

Given that you seem to be talking about speaker, yet keep referring to Lights, that is going to require some explanation.

Keep in mind, you don't necessarily need ceiling speakers for ATMOS. There are speaker made where the Atmos speakers sit on top of the Front speaker and face upward to bounce sound off the ceiling.

I'm not really sure how far you can take this with a Rental Property.

Is this what we are dealing with?

MiPow Playbulb Bluetooth Speaker Smart Bulb - White

    Novel 2 in 1 LED Light Bulb Wireless Bluetooth 3.0 Speaker Audio Player for iPhone 6 Plus 6 5S 5C 5 4S 4-25.87 and Free Shipping| GearBest.com

E27 LED Night Light Bulb Stage Lamp Bluetooth Speaker

    (502731) Archos Music Light

I would not expect these to be very good speakers.

I'm not sure anyone knows what you are talking about, so certainly a far more detailed explanation is in order.

do the guys at the shop where you are purchasing these speakers know what they are going to be used for, can you tell us what other speakers you are using as well

what are your expectations of these speakers and how large is your room, where is your seating position with regards to these speakers, as in, are you going to be sat below them in the centre of them or thereabouts

im just trying to establish whether or not all this effort will be rewarding for you

I currently have quad lite 5.1 speakers and the room is 15ft 8" x 9ft 1" and yes the speakers will be above seating area.

Does anybody know if it is possible to stick (not nails) speaker cable to walls so that they can be removed at a future date without leaving a mark ?

Silicon sealant might be strong enough and comes off easily as it doesn't set hard, it stays rubbery. It's not meant to be an adhesive but might be worth trying.

Avalon haven't contacted me and it's been over three weeks so i have found another place in sheffield and i'm hoping to get over their tomorrow, a lot of their light fitting seem to be very, very expensive several hundred pounds plus and while it may be very nice to have a wrought iron ceiling light i can't help but wonder if all this is worth it for a couple of dolby atmos speakers, their must be a cheaper option for fitting two speakers into the ceiling without leaving a mark.

I don't know is wrought iron expensive ?
