I'm starting to do some footwork into LCD rear projection TVs
and am wondering about the TVs that will offer options to hook
up a computer to the TV where the computer has a DVI video card.

Earlier today I was looking at the Sony WEGA TVs, but they don't offer
what Hitachi offers which is "HDMI"

I'm confused, do I absolutely need a rear projection LCD with HDMI in order to hook up a computer to it ? or what would I be looking for ?

I've noticed other TVs that offer a DVI port on the TV, but a salesman told me that this port on the rear projection LCDs is NOT used for computer hookup from a video card with a DVI port.

I'm very confused and don't know what to look for at this point.

I looked at the Sony WEGA 50" model: KF50WE620
but this TV doesn't seem to have either HDMI nor DVI on it.... so I'm assuming you cannot hook up a computer to this TV.

    any help appreciated

I am pretty sure DVI inputs on a tv will work from a computer graphics card as most tvs have a 'computer' mode. Just make sure you set your graphics card to a lower resolution that the TV can support.

I would check with your graphics card amnufacturer first.

From the specs it says it's got DVI-HDTV. I don't know why the sales guy is saying you can't hook it up to a PC because DVI is native to PCs. I smell a bit of BS.

Check on the Rear Projection forum but I think it would be fine.
