What is your budget? Approx £400

What size laptop do you want? Don't mind.

Do you have resolution requirements? Don't mind.

Do you want a matte or glossy (reflective) screen? Don't mind

What will you be using the laptop for?
Browsing, downloading, multiple applications at once


How long does the battery need to last? 3 hours+?

Does it need to be portable?
out and about now and again to other houses

Do you require Blu-Ray? Not particularly

Do you require HDMI output? Would be nice but not essential

Do you have a preferred brand?
No..had a Dell Inspiron previously

Are there brands you would prefer to avoid? Not really.

Would you be happy with a refurbished laptop? No

Any other details you feel necessary... Webcam;

For your budget and requirements I'd go for something like:

They are both i3 laptops so use fairly new CPUs and will be more "future proof" than some cheaper models. If price is key then you could pick up a Dell with lesser spec that would cope with your needs, the cheapest one on here would do the trick:
