New line includes models ranging from 17 to 40 inches; 1080p model for fall.

LAS VEGAS, January 6, 2005 – JVC today announced a significantly expanded line of high definition LCD televisions, with screen sizes ranging from 17 to 40 inches. Each set features a state-of-the-art widescreen display and incorporates new and exclusive JVC technologies that deliver the best possible picture quality.

The new line includes 17-, 23-, 26-, 32-, 37- and 40-inch HD models. There are 770p models available in each of those screen sizes, and an additional 40-inch display with 1080p resolution will be available in the fall. New, sleeker, more elegantly designed cabinets are another highlight of the new line.

“Demand has exploded for LCD televisions, and with our expanded and revised line JVC offers a combination of screen size and features to meet a wide range of needs,” said Dan McCarron, National Product Manager, Consumer Display Division, JVC Company of America. “But what sets us apart is our devotion to image quality, which is even better this year thanks to advancements in some of our exclusive technologies.”

JVC’s top-end LCD series includes the LT-26X776, LT-32X776, LT-37X776 and the LT-40X776, each based on a 1366 x 768 WXGA panel. Each includes a built-in ATSC tuner and CableCARD™ capability, HDMI input, dual IEEE 1394 inputs and a universal fully illuminated remote control for easy operation in a darkened room. The LT-40X776 adds a memory card slot.

All four sets feature the company’s fourth generation Digital Image Scaling Technology (D.I.S.T.) and GENESSA, a new 32-bit CPU dedicated to controlling picture refinement. JVC’s D.I.S.T. uses an exclusive digital algorithm to upconvert any video source to 770p. Jagged lines inherent in the original source are smoothed and vertical resolution enhanced. Another exclusive is JVC’s Five-Point Color Management, a new generation of this technology that samples red, green, blue, yellow and flesh tones and adjusts each separately to delivers vivid color reproduction.

All four sets also include JVC’s HD DSD (Digital Super Detail) edge enhancement which is active on still, fast and slow motion areas of the picture for crisp defined edges. JVC further strengthens the product by adding Dynamic Gamma Control Circuitry and such home theater features such as TheaterPro D6500K Color Temperature, Digital Noise Clear Circuitry, Interactive Plug-in Menu, XDS ID display, and Natural Cinema 3-2 pull down with on/off capability for all telecine sources.

The LT-26X776, LT-32X776, LT-37X776 and LT-40X776 will be available in June.

In HD Ready models, JVC offers the 26-inch LT-26X576 and the 32-inch LT-32X576, which also use a 1366 x 768 WXGA panel. These sets offer D.I.S.T. that upconverts signals to 770p, GENNESA, Five Point Color Management, HDMI input, a universal fully illuminated remote control and NTSC tuner. Both of these models will be available in April.

Rounding out the JVC HD LCD line are five additional HD Ready models: the 17-inch LT-17X576, 23-inch LT-23X566, 26-inch LT-26X506 and the 32-inch LT-32X506. Features include 3D Y/C comb filter, component inputs and Natural Cinema 3-2 pull down. The LT-17X576 and LT-23X566 include a PC input and a PC picture-in-picture function. All will be available in June, with the exception of the LT-17X576 and LT-23X566 which will be available in April.

In the fall, JVC will launch a 40-inch 1080p LCD television, the LT-40FH96, with ATSC/CableCARDTM, dual HDMI inputs, dual IEEE 1394 inputs, memory card slot that can accept the Microdrive™ used in JVC’s Everio camcorders, and universal fully illuminated remote.

In 4:3 480p sets, JVC will offer the 20-inch LT-20V476. It features an NTSC tuner, HD component inputs and 3D Y/C comb filter. It will be available in March.
