My iPhone keeps kicking itself into safe mode so the sooner I update it the better.

Using QuickPWN on my 2G iPhone required Bootloaders v3.9 and v4.6 as part of the update. No idea why (other than guess mine must have been older despite having fw 2.2 previously) but it did hence providing a link for anyone else who has the same.

Remember Quickpwn is ONLY for if you dont want to unlock your phone. If you want to be able to unlock with yellowsnow you must use Pwnage/Winpwn.

Quickpwn has an option to Unlock the iPhone. What is the difference between that and Yellowsnow?

Thats only for the 2G iPhone, Quickpwn will not unlock the 3G.

If you Quickpwn a 3G iPhone using the new firmware then Yellowsnow wont work and you will be stuck with a locked phone until the Dev Team work out how to hack the new baseband.

That's what I want to do, update to the new firmware and keep it jailbroken.

I am going to try a program on Cydia called AppBackup and see if that keeps all my apps and information.

Did you just update the firmware using iTunes and then run the latest QuickPWN on it?

Did you do a backup with AppBackup before you updated firmware? If so you need to download AppBackup again and do a restore using that program.

How did you do a firmware update on a jailbroken phone?

This is what I do every time I upgrade.

PLEASE NOTE TO BACKUP CYDIA APPS YOU NEED THE PROGRAM APTBACKUP - NOT APPBACKUP

If you havent got it already install AptBackup through Cydia and do a backup
Then sync with iTunes (this backs up your list of installed Apps)
Update to latest Firmware in iTunes
    Run Quickpwn
    Install Aptbackup through Cydia
    Restore through AptBackup
