yeah but something u expected as its part of his biggest hit and does have him fighting (hand to hand kung fu)

this new film seems completely different

    no kung fu
just story driven with gun play (i.e like crime story)

if chan does pull this one off i think this could be the new direction from him:
no more martial arts movies and a move to more drama based flicks in order to show his range as a actor
and to be honest i dont blame him . he cant go around kicking ass and jumping off buildings every week, hes gonna hurt himselve unless he does something different.

Police story etc. were ace, I hope Jackie pulls this one off just for tha sake of getting a good movie to watch.

And yeah, Jackie can't go on with the acrobatics/stunts for fear of going down the path of George Peppard!

Thing is he has always suffered injuries in most of his films big and small. But Jackie is getting (dare I say it) old, and it will be interesting to see how good he is with the 'serious' acting genre. His next couple of films includes a Karate Kid type remake due out in 2010, so he seems to not have totally given up his martial art flicks yet.

its not the kung fu that is the problem with jackie chan

    its the stunts

when hes got other people doing his stunts and using alot of wirework you know its not gonna work.

look at tuxedo and others- all very poor because its soo easy to tell that jackie is using assistance with the moves. (even Forbidden Kingdom - he uses wirework in that film and im very uncomfortable with jackie using wirework whilst jet li on the other hand - hes been using wirework all his life so its a given - i wish jet wouldnt use the wires and stop speeding up his films though :-( )

If Jackie CHan needs the assistance then i dont think he should do the moves - and then you have the problem that if hes not doing the moves you will feel let down - i guess people forget how old he is!

He's almost died a few times and i just hope he really gives up the crazy stunts (anyone watch rob-b-hood ! - the stunt he does climbing up that building is just silly - same with new police story - he shouldnt be doing those stunts at his age)

stick to simple martial arts and more serious roles and he will be fine or better yet - get behind the camera and help out the new breed of action superstars (i know hes already started with the "jackie chans action star tv show")

people like Jacky Wu really need better direction , same with Tony Jaa. - Tony Jaa was meant to be doing drunken master 3 with jackie chan - not sure what happened to that ?

either way i think this film is a step in the right direction for him - a more matured film with less risk to his health.

p.s Rumble in the Bronx was on the other night - what a fun film that was!

No further news on Drunken Master 3 since 2006...maybe it was just a rumour.

Rumble in the Bronx a great film, and again with death defyng stunts, like the jump from the card park to the opposite building.

Being replaced by doubles in the Hollywood flicks does not have the same impact as earlier movies, but as mentioned he is no spring chicken and needs to take a different direction away from doing crazy stunts.

What we need is a good old fashioned kung fu flick with minimum wires, arduos training sessions with a sam seed like character and taking revenge on the death of master, with the opposing school being involved.:D

    Thanks to Monkeypeaches ...

Shooting for Jackie Chan's new movie Junior Soldiers has already begun two days ago at a popular tourist site called "Dirt Forest" located in Yunnan Province of southern China, according to several local newspapers. Junior Soldiers is just an English working title and the original Chinese title is Da Bing Xiao Jiang, which literally means Big Soldier, Small General.

It will be a kind of road movie with a story set in Qin Dynasty (221 BC - 206 BC). The main characters are two guys, a girl and a horse. Chan will play the general and Rochester-born Wang Lee-Hom (second male lead in Lust, Caution) will play the soldier. The actress playing the girl is currently unknown.

A reporter sneaked into the set and wrote a short report about what he saw. The set is a roadside inn built with bricks and dirt. The opening ceremony started in 8 am and Chan led the cast and crew to pray for good luck. He also asked everyone to protect the environment while working - cut down smoking and no cigarette butt on the ground. In the first scene, Jackie Chan dressed in body armors, got drunk (drunken master again?) and smashed a log out of rage. Many extras wearing military uniforms were standing by for unknown scenes. The second lead Wang Lee-Hom has also arrived yesterday. The cast also include Chan's new disciples, called the New Seven Lucky Stars (Jackie Chan is a member of the original Seven Lucky Stars) and Korean singer Yoo Seung-Jun as rumored.

One Nite in Mongkok....... I will skip the joke... :D

I don't think that Jackie Chan can act.. so I doubt that the film will work. I hope he proves me wrong. :)

Oh it's subtitled... I guess that he doesn't need to then, apart from facially.

    Hes a ok actor

i think at times he does overact (heart of dragon, crime story, canton king) in his more serious roles - but with time i think he could develop into a very good actor

    Who said he cant act??

why would he need to act when all he did previously was action films.

Its fantastic that hes now making the switch and doing a bloody good job with it too!

I thought Heart of Dragon was overacting though

Crime Story and Island on Fire were the best serious roles for him

    and also New Police Story.

Little Big Soldier is still alot of comedy but does have that very serious ending.

    Miracles is sooo underrateD!!
