I've got a new iPod (Classic) and not sure what (if any advantages) there are to formatting it for Mac. If I format it on my PC I can use it with either PC or Mac. So is there any advantages to formatting it on my Mac? Is it a more reliable file system or does the iPod perform better in normal use when Mac formatted? or is there any difference at all??????

As you might not have anything on it, try it with pc format, as long as itunes settings on both machines let you manually copy music on the ipod, you should not lose anything when swapping around. Just try a few tests before committing with lots of music tracks.
