Hey,

What's the current status re 3D and HD bitstreaming. My last build (4/5 years ago!) was AMD based with a 5450 graphics card for bitstreaming.

Now want to start again. Looking at the Haswell (H87/Z87) series for boards/CPUs.

Do I still need a discrete card for 3D and bitstreaming. Also, PCIe 3.0 or is 2.0 still good enough for HPTCs. Can you get passive PCIe 3.0 cards?

Thanks

The onboard graphics is good enough for htpc, you won't need dedicated card, at least it should manage 3D, 2d definitely, I'd try it first. Or maybe look at AMD, I think their new chip support 3d and htpc are better without seperate graphics card imo.

Thanks.

I hadn't seen the AMD Richland stuff before posting. But now I have I think I will go for that, but wait for the FM2+ socket motherboards and CPUs.
