Just completed my first htpc build and I have a couple of software/hardware snags I was wondering if anyone has any experience of ...

1 - got a 9019urf wireless keyboard from cpc (after forum recomendations) ... nice keyboard but with the receiver attached to any usb port it hangs XP after the bios load but before the main XP load ... remove the receiver and boots fine ... plug in the receiver whilst XP is running and works fine too ... have downloaded latest driver from btc.co.tw but no joy yet ... ?

2 - I bought the Accent HT400 case with built-in iMon board but the iMon drivers wouldn't load, updated drivers and seems to load but now has a big green dot and questionmark over imon icon on bottom right of screen ??

3 - Also got their vfd 'flouro display' ... have attached and installed drivers and configured but cant get display to show anything ??

    any ideas ?

Have had hunt on quietpc site/forum but not too much info ..; have also emailed them but I gather they are catching up with backlog from being away at CES

    rest of kit is Abit IC7 mobo, 3Ghz P4 + zalman cooler, 1Gb ram, DiamondMax 9 200GB HD, XP SP2+MCE2005. ATI 9600SE, Audigy 2ZS

    cheers

    Jon

If its not boot from usb, you need to enable use of a usb keyboard/mouse in the bios.

Unless you can boot from usb you will not be able to boot from a memory stick but not that many mobo's have that option.

To enable a usb keyboard mouse on my Asus is to set "Legacy USB devices" set to auto or enable, other boards will specify allow usb keyboard/mouse, the default is usually off/no.

Have you tried plugging the usb receiver in after the machine has booted?

I have an 'AwardBios CMOS setup' screen when I press 'del' at startup

The options are: softmenu setup standard cmos advanced bios advanced chipset integrated peripherals power management pnp/pci configuration

None of which seem to have anything about legacy usb ??

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks

    Jon

Its probably in integrated peripherals but it doesn't hurt to go into any of them and have a look around, there are onscreen instructions for which keys control the pages and options.

    John

thanks for the help ... sorry to sound so dumb but I've never had to delve into pc innards in this way before (been mac man for 20 years!)

I've found something called onchip usb controller which is 'enabled' in the integrated peripherals bit ... it has a setting for usb keyboard and usb mouse with 'bios' or 'os' settings ... both are set to bios at the moment ... is that any good ?
