Having a new house built, (can have wires pre-routed through ceilings and walls). Attached pictures show the model of what I'm building and how it would probably be when I move in. As you can tell, there is only one wall a surround speaker can be mounted which I will not do. And I really do not want surround speakers on stands then there's a wire problem, it just ... I don't want the cluttered look.
I guess my question is how would it sound with the surround speakers in the ceiling I am also going to add Atmos speakers to the ceiling. I can do 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.4 but I think that would be Overkill.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You need to choose either one. 5.1 with in-ceiling surround speakers which is often used in big rooms there in US when there is no walls. It´s not optimal location for them, but it will be question to have them or not have them at all and most people seem to enjoy when they have in-ceiling speakers installed slightly behind the couch and perhaps some wide disperion models would help creating better experience.

If you want to go with Atmos 5.1.x system you need to have the surround speakers either at side or rear wall around seated ear height (stands/wall mounted). You need to have the height separation between surround sides and overhead speakers! So you can´t have them both at ceiling.

Kef T101/301 in white being ultrathin design is often prefered for nice lounges like you have as a surround speakers wall mounted. They will be installed flush against wall.

For "hiding" speaker wires check white D-line trunking from Amazon example. The end result should be clean look as you can install the trunking on top of skirting boards, both being white it won´t jump on eyes.

I figured it out..
Facing the TV there's a wall that is between the couch and the TV I'm going to put a in-wall speaker there for the left surround and to the right of the couch I will put an in-wall speaker. It's not going to be perfect but it's better than nothing and I could put two Atmos speakers in the ceiling.

The right side is fine slightly behind, but the left side speaker would be too far in front of the listeners. Should be at each side or slightly behind..

How does the wall go on the left side? No chance to have some smaller satellite type speakers with let`s say good looking stands close to side walls?

Speaker would go to the left of that picture.

Okay I got to make a decision tomorrow if I want pre-wired. Attached the actual floor plan I drew placement best I could. The left surround speaker would be in wall approx. 21/2 ft. front of the couch. Only place in the world you can put it because to the left of that is an open space it's a hallway there's no wall there. Or I have to buy an Atmos sound bar it's either, either, or.
I could use all the suggestions I can get.
