new hitachi is looking good

    I too have been eagerly waiting for these. I saw them on display in Tokyo back in Jan and they do look quite nice. They will be bringing out 4 models I think, 42" and 50". The top range model of each size will have a built-in hard drive and I think also an Ethernet port?? Could be useful...

    micol i think its the wooo 8000 series from hitachi that has the built in hard drive , the 42pd9700 only has an extra usb port and sd slot

    i emailed hitachi in the uk and they dont have any dates yet

    John lewis price for 9700 is £2395 at the moment but we have none so thats a starter price!

    Wow, so looking at the specs, this TV will be able to display 1080p won't it?

    This is well worth holding out for!!:thumbsup:

    Not native, it's an interlaced panel. This TV will shine with 1080i material, although it still has to downscale horizontally.
    With 720p, i think Panasonic/Pioneer etc. have the edge.

    New Alis panel 1024x1080:eek:.How good are these for displaying pc resolutions?
