Will these new hi-res codecs require us to upgrade to new processor hardware or will it be possible to aquire them via a software download? Input welcome Dan
Dan more than likely these new formats will require new Kit but if you have a High End Processor or AV amp then you could probably get them updated via a software update. John
Having speakers that sport Hypertweeters,i am keen to make the most out of them via these new technologies. However,i am also keen to change my processor ,.but dont know whether to hang on in case the codecs are not available via software download. Dan
It could be the case that yes the hardware will have to be changed to accept the Hi Res formats so might be wise not to buy a processor just yet! John
Yeah,i think it would be wise to wait,John. But if the formats do require new hardware, then integrated receivers such as the new Denon A1XV will virtually be out of date before they are released! Dan
Just a thought,it could be possible for manufacturers to incorporate decoders into forthcoming Blu-Ray players? Are there any techies out there who know anything about this? Dan
Anything is possible but it doesn't mean it will be implemented. Market strategy / demand will often define what is sold and in what configuration. Surely there will be some models with certain types of decoders, but I guess not all. The trend seems to be in favour of digital connections anyhow, so I wouldn't bet too much on analog connections from the decoder's output ...
