    Hi

I need some help with a new Harmony for the lounge, to replace the old 885 which broke a few months ago.

I don't want to spend a lot, so was looking at the 650. But, the Smart Control system can be had for just £15 more. I am just not sure it would work for me.

In the lounge, we have the AV receiver and a Tivo box in a closed cabinet. The TV is outside the cabinet. I currently have a RF system to pass the IR controls into the cabinet. A slight added complication is, that I also have control of the Tivo via a second RF system to allow us to control the Tivo from the cellar from a Harmony 1100. All the RF things I have are Powermids and work ok.

Would the Smart Control work out of the box for me, or am I beter just going for a 650?

    Hope this makes sense!

The official difference in price is £40, so I'd definitely go for the 650.

Well, its about £50 from Amazon for the 650. But, currently the Smart Control is £80 but with £15 voucher back, which I would use. So effectively about a £15 difference.

As long as it will work for me and is worth it, I don't mind paying a few more quid for a better solution.

I was going by the Logitech pfficial prices but they are known to be variable.
There's no mention at Amazon of £15 back but doesn't that apply also to the 650?
The Smart control is meant to work in conjunction with a telephone or tablet.
If you want that then it is obviously the better choice - otherwise not.

No, the £15 doesn't apply to the 650 unfortunately.

I suppose the main query is, with my set up (tv outside cabinet and AV inside cabinet) and current use of RF, will both the Smart Control/or the 650 work without me needing to buy anything else.

Yes, but "The Smart control is meant to work in conjunction with a telephone or tablet".

Went with the Smart Control for £65 after Amazon's £15 offer. It arrived today and its fantastic. Took about 20 minutes to install and configure and works brilliantly. I won't use the apps too much but the basic controller is great for our lounge.

I might even think about replacing the 1100 in thecellar, although not sure if its quite up to that.

For a simple set up, the smart control is brilliant, well impressed.
