There s a fujitsu 40 series review from what plasma magazine above.
Is this screen so bad as that guy says especially on tv broadcast?
I haven t seen the screen yet,but based on it s price and the reviews i ve read in here I thought it was an exceptional display and I didn t expect such a trashing review.

You are confusing the new 50XHA40US we are all raving about wiv da lesser alis based 42HHA mortal - which is different technology to the 50". In others words its not a smaller bruvver of the 50XHA40US!!!!!

its pretty average for the 3.5 k mate. Thats wot that review is saying and I agree..get a Panny 42PV500 instead.

Its not unfomtaunatey anything remotely like its big cousin the 50XHA40US which is the killer panel to have at the mo... The 42" HHA model use e-alis but beleive it or not the 50" uses Panasonic glass and no e-alis!!!!

So we have Panny glass allied to Fuji electronics for the 50" - a killer in da house or wot...

the 42" is ALIS (no e) its good screen but there are better screens for the money, (£3.5k gets you a TH-50PHW7) for 42" side there is a huge choice and for £3.5k you can add a scaler. Not that the fujitsu isnt good.

You're spot on hornydragon. I own one of these, and it IS one of the better 42" panels, but it wouldn't justify the 3.5K price tag. Luckily, you should be able to get it for much less than that amount, which makes it a fairly tantalising proposition.

Contrary to what the reviewer says about it's capability on TV broadcast, it does a very good job with such substandard material. I think it pees all over the competitors such as Pioneer, Hitachi and Panny's. All I can say is that your eyes will tell you the truth, reviewers have their own agendas.

And for what it's worth, I agree that the 50" is a couple of classes above it's baby brother, but then, it's probably a few leagues ahead of anything else too.

I've only had a go with one 42" Fuji 40 and would say it's about the best I've seen from an ALIS panel. There's very few of the nasties that are common with Hitachi screens (which are often inaccurately associated with ALIS technology outright rather than Hitachi electronics) and given this is all internal processing the screen is easy to install, setup and use. Plus I quite like the bezel design on the new Fujis! But for the ultimate 42" I still prefer the image gained from a Lumagen combined with an XGA panel. (especially now the VisionDVI is so cheap!)

Regarding the glass in the 50", who manufacturers the glass has only a small effect on how the screen is going to come out. So long as the glass manufacturer is working with the plasma manufacturer they can achieve some good results. It's not only Panasonic that can make a panel that hits 3000:1 contrast on a 50" display... And by the way, the 50" Fuji uses glass manufactured by Samsung not Panasonic.

Older Fuji's used Panasonic glass, but when the Fuji guys were down a few weeks back they mentioned it was Samsung involvement for the 50". Seems logical really since the 42" VHA30 became the VHA31 a good while back and that used Samsung glass where the older used Panny.

But like I said, it doesn't make as much difference as people would make out.

Are you sure as? As far as was aware, Fujitsu hadn't actually revealed wher ethey source the glass from. The VHA31 was samsung glassed but the VHA30 50XHA30 and 10 were panny glass. It doesnt matter whose glass it is as long as its good, but i would be surprised if the P50XHA40US did indeed use samsung glass.

Only repeating what I was told, but like I said if 42" supply went over to Samsung would make sense for 50" to do the same. TBH I didn't exactly ask for much clarification, the picture in-front of me at the time was enough for me to not care where the glass started life!!

On a slightly interesting side note, the Sim2 LCD screen (HTL40 iirc) uses Samsung LCD glass and it gives a fantastic picture!

The personnel on the Fujitsu stand at the Bristol show were positive that the 50 inch model uses Panasonic glass.

So does the Beovision 6 & 7 give a superb picture (samsung LCD panel). But we arent talking LCD here are we, PDP and LCD are as you know very different beasts and no oine excells at both (few even make both)

eh?? Can't tell if that first line is a question or a statement. Either way it doesn't matter a huge amount who makes the glass, it's down to implementation (as already said). Just fancied throwing in a random fact!!!

Oblomov - not sure then matey. One of those same guys at Bristol was the one who mentioned Samsung here at the office so I don't know. Makes no odds anyway, the proof is always in the pudding and the screen is sh*thot!

Cool - and nice fact box! Gonna have to pop into B&O and see what's what (and of course pick everything apart, waste the salesman's time a lot, ask difficult questions that they couldn't possibly answer, put my grubby fingerprints all over their nice shiny surfaces - not that I'm anti-competitive or anything...)

Yeah will bring it up next time I'm speaking to someone in technical. TBH it matters little, the picture itself is proof of how good this screen is!!! But will be interesting to know nonetheless

    Well hopefully a replacement as:

    1) Bezel crushed in bottom-right
    2) Right-hand silver strip cracked/bent at bottom-right
    3) Metal casing also bent a wee bit in bottom-right
    4) Metal casing a wee bit bent top-center! (makes sense but makes me wonder how on earth the glass didnt shatter)
    5) Scratch in the glass coating (prolly from the hurried attempt to prevent the fall)

However I expect the insurer will want to pay as little as possible so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a reapir job.

    Hello all

Just a quick note to a certain Mr Fraser to remind him to leave his screwdriver kit at home when he's next over for a play with our P50XHA40US :)

    Best regards

    Joe

PS Its more fun not knowing (or telling) anyway!!!
