New front door

Hello

We are looking getting a new front door and a small bathroom window.

Had 3 quotes, two for around £1200 (though one offered £100 discount as soon as I asked) and another for £800.

Is there likely to be any difference in the end product? I'm just a bit shocked the costs vary so wildly!

Hard to say if the workmanship will differ but surely you are picking the door / window itself from a brochure? Had two front doors replaced in past few years and each cost about £1000 for door plus fitting so quotes seem about right. Depends very much on the door you choose.....

I guess the only way to find out is research who the manufacturer of each door is. Check things like the quality of the hinges and locks, etc.

If you want a really good quality front door look at Rockdoors. Apparently they are the drug dealers door of choice in Manchester as the police cannot break them down. I had 2 in my last house and can reccomend them very highly.

are we talking upvc or hardwood? is there glass? if so, is it upto building regs? company fensa certified....?
