A reliable source tells me a new fmj player is due in spetember.
Cannot wait...already saving.
make that september...ahem
Is this an Arcam FMJ CD player or DVD palyer?
Zam... what would be a reliable source ???
An Arcam FMJ dvd player.
The source was an Arcam rep.
wonder if it will be above or below a dv27 in spec
I am not sure.
The feeling i got was that it was replacing the DV27 but i could be wrong.
I am hoping so..i have a DV27 and want Arcam to release an FMJ replacement with HDMI included as i am on the verge of buying a projector.
Then i plan to upgrade to an Arcam Blu-Ray ( or HD-DVD ) FMJ player some time in the future.( Please, please, please release one Mr. Dawson ).
Well i hope the dv27 is upgradeable to this new player as it was one of the reasons i bought mine
I would have thought so.
My DV27 is one of the 1st gen machines so i am not so bothered about buying a new FMJ player a a replacement.
If this helps your concerns.....a dealer who i respect told me that he thinks Arcam will offer an upgrade for the DV27 when necessary.
I'm pretty happy with my DV88+ which just got the SiI504 PS board. But I'll be ready for an FMJ in the future if/when Arcam has a HD version (whatever that end up being).
Indeed now the Diva range is HDMI compatible, hence dv79, Arcam should better not wait too long to upgrade the FMJ range.
Thanks for sharing with us Zam
"It's not called anything because it doesn't exist yet, except maybe in Mr. Dawson's head. Why don't you all stop speculating on stuff that there is no hard facts on."
I guess we are all wrong and you are right.....
If it exists in Mr. Dawsons's head then that's good enough for me.
do you also have sharp s-sound on treble whith your dv88+ ?
Are you asking if the surround sound is overly bright?
My room is on the bright side to begin with (plaster on concrete walls, hardwood floors with lg. wool area rug), but with my speakers (Dynaudio Audience) it isn't overly so. I haven't made any EQ adjustments in my AVR300 in any case.
No i mean when im listening to cds . to sharp and bright on some tracks like ssss-sounds. I have a a90 amp so its 2channels.
No, I have not heard anything unusual playing CDs on my DV88+.
However, I don't play music very much with my HT system. For that I have a separate stereo system and room (Arcam Alpha 10/Linn Sondek/Linn Sara) for playing LPs, and I don't have a CD player for it in any case.
So maybe something is wrong ? Could it be the dacs ? Or my audioquest jaguar interconnect ?
Or maybe i should buy a cd82 ? Ive some problems whit dv88+ when it comes to reading some cdrs aswell.
Any more from rumour control then on a new FMJ?
yes, but I heard December. (if my dealer is telling truth)
Saw an ad in the latest Widescreen Review mag about the Arcam FMJ DV29. Not much info and not yet on the Arcam website. Should be soon. It's in the Sept. 2004 issue, volume 13, number 9, issue 88.
A little more detail from the WSR Ad.
"Just under 3K" USD
"First player to use the new second gen. HDMI chips with high res audio support"
"A scaled down 300, built on same platform"
"retail well under 2K" USD
Some paraphrasing by me.
Keeping my eye on this thread for sure. Those prices, if accurate look good.
It will be very interesting to SDI it and compare pic HDMI/SDI...
I will pick up one for home test for sure, as soon as my dealer gets it!
On another thought, is there anyone around (Elliott) who compared DV79 HDMI/SDI?
I find it also very interesting to find out if AVR250 is enhanced AVR200 or downgraded AVR300
....and 'if' there is a whiff of an AV9 in the offing?
Can't be that far off. With HDMI/SDI appearing all over the place, an updated/upgraded DV29 being whispered about.
Just looking into my crystal ball.
Don't be so sure. Arcam haven't brought a single update for AV8 until now. Not even PLIIx and they definately have code for it.
But you are right, sort of board upgrade (as Denon used to do it) with HDMI switching and new processing modes could be nice thing for AV8 owners
Nothing like saying 'What if?' though.
Nice to dream.
