new dvd wanted but which?

i have a panny 6 plasma with vga input bein fed with a yamaha 750 upscaling amp running out component to vga into plasma what i was wondering is which dvd player will give me best picture ie progresive pal component into amp
will i be better missing the amp out and going straight from dvd to panny ?

ive read that going via hdmi or dvi into panny 6 will not be good, as the reoloution is only 452 so i wont see a big improvement

i was looking at the 575 pioneer or does anyone know of anything better around this price?

Panny are offering the S97 for £159, which would seem to be a natural, but doesn't support SACD.
