If you must buy a SACD player, and I remain unconvinced by what I have heard to date, stick with the straight SACD 770 and avoid the combi player. The 770 is the best of a mixed bunch in the mid price. Personally I would stick it out for another year to get better bass management.

Both the NS700 and NS900 should be better than what you have at the moment for DVD and they can both play SACDs. Not too sure how well they compare to a dedicated audio-only SACD deck but I can confirm that the NS700 sounds damn good to my ears on a 930 amp. Too bad it's so hard to find SACDs to play on it in retailers. Beware of the A/V switching problem on the NS900.

Many NS900 users have been experiencing wierd A/V selection faults when watching discs on the NS900. Basically, the player seems to keep dropping the 'select' pin on the SCART leading to the TV flicking back to tuner or other SCART inputs. Do a search for NS900 on the forums and the internet newsgroups to find the full details.
