I've done it, i made the big step to the world of DSLR... This is what i got off ebay for £650.

I'm very interested in macro work and hopefully the sigma 70-300mm will do, what do you guys think of this lens and what lense would be an improvement? I want to be able to really magnify flowers etc..

sigma 105 macro lens is superb. I know they make these for canons so I'm sure you can get one foe your nikon.

The Sigma isn't a true macro, but is a 2:1 instead. For a well-priced 1:1 macro either go for the Tamron 90mm or Sigma 105mm.

Be careful with the microdrives as well. They're a little fragile being HDD.

Thanks for the info, i'm a bit confused tho. I don't get why its not a true macro. I don't really understand the ratio bit?.

Radiohead, really like you macro work with that Tamron 90mm shown on your website :)

Thanks for the Tip on the microdrives, do you think its safer to just opt for CompactFlash cards and get rid of the microdrives?

One last question, what sort of lens should i look for, for taking landscape sceney shots?
