New Desire Touch Screen Possibly Not Working

Hi folks,

I'm new to the world of Smartphones and took delivery of my Desire yesterday.

After installing the sim card and battery and then charging it for four hours I powered it on. The TMobile logo appears etc and then the words 'screen locked' appear as well as a screen asking me to select the language.

When I try to slide my finger over the screen to unlock it nothing happens. When I press the menu button I get a warning which states

'Sorry! The process android.process acore had stopped
unexpectedly. Please try again'

Having followed the instruction booklet to reboot the phone it continues to come back to the same screen each time and the same warning. I've removed the battery and the sim card and left them out for more than hour. On reinserting everything and powering up I still get the same warning.

Am I missing something in how to unlock the screen as tapping it and sliding my finger up and down and side to side has no effect.

It should be a simple slide down to unlock the phone if that is not happening then I would say you have a faulty phone. I assume you done a factory reset, although you really shouldn't have to.

Sounds like a faulty phone mate. I'd just send it back.
