Over on the A1SE/5800 Forum there is a thread from someone that has just returned from the berlin IFA. There are a lot of pictures of new amps, speakers,cd & dvd. The news I was waiting for is of the replacement of the DV-5000. The new Denon DVD-A1. its a huge DVD player sporting DVD-Audio, progressive scan,THX certification and is rumoured to be the first DVD with firewire. It can most probably be modified for Pal Progressive just like the 2800. Apparantly it goes on sale in germany, early next year for about 7000DM. Does anybody know roughly how much it will be when released in the UK and what will the firewire be for. Any news will be greatly appreciated.

The Denon UK website is currently under construction, so no joy there at the moment.

I didn't know that Denon UK actually had a website but I made it up and guessed correctly, first time! Not exactly difficult I must say after Richard's clue!

If it's up and running early this week Hayden Labs (they are Denon UK after all?) will be able to use it to announce full details of the Denon AVC-A1SE Upgrade! <img src="tongue.gif" border="0"> Check here <a href="http://www.denon.co.uk/" target="_blank">Denon UK</a>

Not even Avland have it mentioned on their site but here's the translation from <a href="http://www.area-dvd.de/index.html" target="_blank">Area-DVD from IFA</a> in Berlin dated 25th August (Check out the section under "IFA Special" and Denon, obviously!). I realise it's not much more that you know already but at least it says they are still prototypes and should be available in early 2002!<br /> <br />"Denon presents prototypes of a new High end DVD Audio/Video Players on the IFA. The housing of the THX Ultra certified DVD-A1 corresponds in its high-quality and substantial execution according to predicate of Denon to the later series status already as far as possible. Start of 2002 is the new flagship - on the market to come, including the Denon own AL24-Processings and the playback of D-CRs and D-CRcWs. also to MP3-CDs does not refuse itself noble bolide. Of course also this Denon DVD Player in a the position is to output progressive Scan picture signals."

    PS Use <a href="http://babel.altavista.com/" target="_blank">Babel Fish</a> to translate.

PPS Not quite sure what "noble bolide" is! <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Thanks Jim. I can't wait to see it. Am I the only one awaiting this player, it looks like the ultimate match for the A1SE. From recent reviews of the well recieved 2800, it can only get better.
