Just had a look at the Denon US web site, and noticed their new 3300 player features progressive output.

BUT, I then checked the European site, and out version has 2 scarts instead, featuring the usual RGB output..

Why is this? Are denon not following the progressive trend because they think that our RGB is as good as progressive??
    Hmm..very confusing

    Hey Bananas !

I had a bit of a rant on the 737 thread about this - although from memory, The US site doesn`t say the 3300 is progressive - I think this model is DVD-A. However, the US site does have the specs for another new model - the 2800 , which IS Progressive, and which has a video "buffer" to remove layer change delay, as well as the (apparantly)much better DVDO chipset. There is no mention of the 2800 on the Denon europe web site, leading me to believe we are not deemed worthy !!.

First Toshiba shaft us on the 500e , now it looks like Denon are following suit - PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME IT AIN`T SO !!

I plan on getting this new denon 2800.
If Denon don't come up with the goods on the R2 model(progressive, component, rgb, I SAID PROGRESSIVE, COMPONENT, RGB etc)
THEY WILL KNOW ABOUT IT ON ALL THE FORUMS ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB!!!!

If you want info on these DVD players just ring up Denon and ask them:
Tel. 01753 888447, and speak to Roger Bachelor, as seen in various issues of HCC.

Or otherwise wait for the Bristol Hifi show and speak to him there.

    Rick

The new DVD2800 player that supports prog-scan is a DVD-V only player, whereas the DVD3300is DVD-V and A compatible.
