It's for the new FX channel, which is kind of a spinoff of Fox. (the channel that brought us The Shield!) I think 289 is the channel they're advertising, but that may change before it officially launches. Should be showing up on Monday, according to the TiVo forums.

    It's not free-to-air, though.

    Looks rubbish to me.

Apparently it's going to be 100% imported shows from USA. Basically a poor mans sky 1 which itself is a poor mans itv1. Who watches all the crap on sky1 as it is? Dinotopia anyone? Scare tactics? What a load of crap.

I hate FOX they are a bunch of ultra-right wing nobbers. It's murdochs child and is apparently going to eventually replace the struggling sky1.

...Not sure everyone agrees with your definition of rubbish ;)

    From the TiVo forum.

From Monday 16th January 2004, Sky Digital viewers only will be able to get the UK version of Fox’s “FX” channel, which will be showing the following:
    - The Shield (uncut, widescreen, all seasons to date)
    - The X-Files (all seasons made, uncut, 4:3 versions only)
    - NYPD Blue (uncut versions of Seasons 1-8, including the missing episodes Channel 4 never aired)
    - Highlander: The Series (uncut versions of all seasons made)
    - Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea (all seasons)
    - Lost In Space (all seasons made)
    - Batman (the classic 60’s live-action series, all seasons made)
    - Land Of The Giants (all seasons made)

I used to watch FX when I lived in the States, and most of it was very boyo stuff: T'n'A shows (with very little of either, because it was US TV), action shows, and the like.

Course, this was before they were producing stuff like the Shield, and apparently Murdock doesn't want to air another Bravo, so it could be quite different when it makes it to air over here.

If it is to replace Sky1, it seems to be worryingly low on "Wild police video wars 92."

If it means no more showing of Brainiac it'll probably a worthwhile trade!

One should point out that there are just as many ultra left-wing nobbers about, and that being right-wing is not nobbish per se.

No being right wing doesn't mean that you're a nobber, But fox news (who just love everything dubbya does for some reason that clearly is nothing to do with tax breaks for their boss) are the people who almost sued the makers of the Simpsons after they parodied their partisan view of american politics - the story goes that somebody pointed out that they would be suing their own network, so the case was never pursued

Which has exactly nothing to do with being 'right wing'.

I'm confident the same would have happened if such a thing had occured had the politics been reversed. Thankfully the most powerful nation in the world leans to the right.

    Totally agree.

But Fox are right wing, and nobbers.
