I currently have a dvr8-2600 set up that came as a kit. It has worked flawlessly apart from the image quality being awful and the ridiculous format the downloaded video is stored in. Also the email pictures from motion detection are very poor. I use remote viewing on my phone a lot. All the cameras are internal but now I want to mount one externally.

I have noticed swann have this available.

NVR8-7300 8 Channel 3MP Network Video Recorder & 4 x NHD-815 3MP Cameras

Does anyone know much about this system?

Will this be a massive step up in image quality? Will it allow actual recorded footage viewing on your phone? Currently I can only do this via pc, the phone just show current live feed. Will the motion capture pictures sent by email be any better? Will downloaded video be usable in normal media programs?

Or is there a better alternative to this one?

I have a NUUO NS-2080 NVRsolo with a mixture of Samsung 2MP and 3MP CCTV cameras. No complaints, it's great for a small home installation.

Not sure why you would want cameras in your house though. Isn't that a bit creepy when you have visitors?

It's in a business premises.
