In our price budget, and what we want economy wise, I have narrowed it down to:

Kia Cee'd (whilst the warranty is good, not sure about the quality, also, not sure boot space is enough).
    Hyundia i30 estate.
Skoda Fabia Estate (cheapest to run).

Anybody have any of the above and have any comments/warnings?

I notice there are no MPVs there, which many parents rush out to buy, especially when the kid count reaches 3.

I'm the eldest of 3 children, and when growing up my Dad bought a Mini Metro!

    No mpv's in those days!

    Skoda Fabia. :smashin:

Although, I am a little biased as we've got 2 Mk1 Hatchbacks in the Family (I have the vRS).

It might be a Skoda, but it's a VW Polo with a different badge.

The Missus has had an I30 diesel for 2 years , it's cheap to run, been 100% reliable so far and she loves it. It doesn't have anything like the torque of the VAG diesels but it is a lot quieter and can't fault the build quality.

Have you thought about how you are going to get three child-seats into those cars?

Which model of them? You haven't specified the age of the cars you're looking at and both the i30 and Fabia have had redesigns.

Or the age of the kids...

...sticking with the Skoda theme, there's a new Octavia coming out in the new year so look for some cheap deals there - much more space than a Fabia, even in hatchback form, for probably not much more outlay...

Ford s max for me as soon as we found out the third was on the way. Have to say I love it...... massive boot has never let me down, lux inside and turbo diesel still nippy enough not to feel like I'm in a tank. Would go for it now even without the kids!

Looked at quite a few, and any of the nice ones were either out of price range for age we want, or we just didn't like the running costs.

Our eldest is now big enough not to need one. She'll get the middle seat, 2nd eldest is in a small booster now. Baby will get whichever side is left!!

Any S max that was in our price range 8-10k was too old to have the sort of milgae we've seen on the above, or the economy of running it.

We've got a Skoda Fabia 3 hatchback 1.9 TDI - 4 years old now but runs like a dream and cheap to run. Daily school runs with 4 kids (one with child seat) without any problems.
Its our second Skoda, built to last without the Volkswagen/Audi price tag;)
