Well my short list is now down to 2 cameras

The Minolta A1 and the Sony DSC-F828.

Both take CF cards (I have lost of these already), both support an external flash, both appear to take very good pictures.

The Sony is about £100 more though. The 5mp of the Monolta is more than enough. Both cameras get great reviews.

So thoughts and comments please before I shell out between £500 and £600 on a new digicam.

I think you've narrowed it down to 2 good cameras, I have an A2 and am reasonably happy with it.

Have you actually handled both cameras side by side?, the size difference is quite dramatic, the 828 is much larger. I love the swivel body design of the 828, if size had not been an issue for me I would have chosen it over the A2.

I'm sure both are equally capable of producing great photos, I'd choose the one that you think handles best.
