Hey guys Im thinking of opening an online cableshop soon to sell cables at reasonable prices.

Do you have any suggestions on what to stock / what you would like, brands etc.

Note this isnt my first post to get ideas, It was coming here and getting into AV that made me realise how much OTT people pay for cables and the huge mark up some companys add.

Brands like QED, Ixos, Cable talk, Supra and Van den Hul are the ones that spring to mind. I dare say other members might have conflicting views.;)

    Good luck.

Thanks for the help guys, just looking into those brands now.

Also need to find the supplier of the budget leads everyone seems to be selling. Anyone know the make, its the ones that are cheaper than the profigold ones ?

    Thanks again

I think you'll find the OTT pricing may have something to do with having to make a profit to stay in business :) - its way easy to give stock away at near trade; but not so easy to make profit on it; no matter how much you sell.

Doing a quick tot up I have about £3.5k of cable stock in the office just now - and I only supply three brands and even then I dont carry anywhere near the full range of any of them from stock.

Good luck with your business but most of the brands mentioned so far are available at trade + about 20% on-line already and the others will require that you lay out a shed load on stock before you become a dealer.

    Best regards

    Joe

    Joe thanks for the advice.

Ive been selling PCs and cables for the past few years. Cables were where all the margin was. I see the audio cable market is lower margin.

You may be able to help I looking for the distributor for the budget range of cables that seem to be online and on ebay, you don't happen to know who that is ?

Might save me searching around for a few more hours online.

    Thanks
