Hi

Basically I'm getting together a list to upgrade my PC.

I have chosen the following and was wondering what people thought about this:

Antec 300 Three Hundred Black Case
Antec TruePower New 650W Modular PSU
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping OEM Processor
ASUS P5N-D nForce 750i SLI Socket 775 ATX Motherboard
Corsair 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Kit CL5 1.9V

I was going to use my current ZALMAN CNPS 9500 AM2 - Processor cooler but seen that it isn't compatible with socket 775

I will be using the following from my old system:
PCI Creative XIFI sound card
250GB Hard drive (I have 2 external 500GB hard drive which i am considering removing and using them inside the machine)
DVD Re-Writer
GeForce 7900GTX

Can anyone recommend a different cooler as i will be looking to overclock the machine?

Comments welcome!

I have decided to swap the processor and motherboard for the following:

Asus P5Q PRO P45 Socket 775 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 Socket 775 (2.66GHz) FSB1333 6MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor

Comments welcome

A quad-core is a better choice in general, I wouldn't go for a fast dual-core unless you need to run non-multithreaded appliations as fast as possible. The Q8200 is worth looking at if you're not a demanding user - it's not quite as fast as the Q6600 but it is lower power.

Thanks for the reply.

I think i might have a look at some Q8200's and see what there is available. Think that might have persuaded me enough to go for the quad core.

Been looking at some coolers and i'm thinking about the 2 below:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/105994
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/120876

Can anyone comment on them or offer a better alternative?

Hoping to get all this in place in a few weeks so will be updating with some photos during build

Well I've ordered the parts I need from eBuyer.

Hoping to get this built sometime next week when i have the time to complete it. I will try to get some photos up during the build.

Anyway here's what I ordered:

Motherboard - Asus P5Q PRO P45
Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz
Cooler - Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro
Memory - Corsair 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz
Case - Antec 300 Three Hundred Black Case
PSU - Antec TruePower 650W Modular

I'm going to be looking into overclocking this, can anyone recommend any software to do this or is it just as easy through the bios?
