New build pre-wire question

Hi all,

Long time lurker here (2007!)...

I'm moving into a new build which has a prewire detailed below which all terminate into a cupboard under the stairs:

Every TV point
3 x CAT6a
2 x CT100

Lounge
5 x Speaker cable for 5.1 surround system
1 x subwoofer (50ohm shielded signal cable)

Satellite dish/TV aerial
Cables in place from the dish/aerial to the head

I'm just having a little confusion on using ARC with the TV in the lounge - we mainly use the built in Freeview HD tuner or smart features of the TV (Netflix, Prime Instant Video, Now TV etc) for our day to day browsing, and I'm looking at how to output the sound from the TV over ARC to my AVR under the stairs.

Can I use a standard HDMI/CAT6 extender on the output of my AVR (ARC enabled) or will that not return the ARC from the TV through the extender?

Apologies for the noob question; the whole multiroom (although at this stage really only one room with seperate AVR) is very new to me!

Cheers!

ARC return depends on the extenders in use. Mine don't support it but others might.

I ended up converting optical, to coax and then to a pair over ethernet which works with no obvious delays in sound.

For your sub you wanted 75ohm shielded

ARC requires you to enable CEC control on the connected TV and AVR - CEC can be very hit and miss in terms of usability.

As per ChuckMountain I'd be looking at Optical over Coax or CAT as a more reliable solution.
