HI all

Right here we go

i have built a PC for my son specs are

OS: win7 home 64bit
Motherboard: msi Z87 G45
Memory: patriot viper 3 1600 8GB
GPU: Gigabyte 650TI 2GB
CPU: I5 4670K Haswell
PSU: Be Quiet! CM BQT L8-730W PSU Pure Power
HDD: Seagate 1TB Barracuda

I loaded all the software (there was some issues with win update) and updated all drivers and the bios.

The pc either crashes bsod or freezes when installing certain games (star craft and Guild wars) but will play others without issue (I have my son playing games now to see if it crashes it:thumbsup:), it has crashed while opening some web pages and defraggler

I have swapped both the GPU and memory with my PC with no issues on my pc but his one keeps crashing.

I have scanned the HDD and the memory to no avail.

I was going to do a complete reinstall after a format as I have a feeling it may be the HDD or the OS install may be corrupt.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Dave

I would try swapping the PSU next. Have you disabled the C6/C7 power states in your BIOS if the PSU doesn't support it?

Have you checked for temperature issues? Fans running ok? Thermal paste ok between processor and heatsink?

Google Blue screen of death diagnostic,

Its a tool that will let you read the BSOD and get a bit more information.
