As subject really, it looks like the Athlon 64 3000 at £170 (half the price of the Athlon 64 3200) is a bit of a bargain. I was thinking of getting a P4 2.6C as it's cheap and a good performer but I'm wondering whether the AMD 64 3000 would be a better performer and more future proof (64 bit). Is Dual channel DDR which the intel uses more important for performance as I believe the AMD solution doesn't use that. I know it's new so there's not likely to be much hard evidence to support the performance of the AMD solution but does anyone have any opinions as to which I should go for? This is for my main/gaming PC by the way, not my HTPC.. Cheers, Andy.
