Greetings peeps! A mate of mine needs a new DVD player and has a budget of £100. I have managed to get the following requirements from him:

    1) it will be used as an all-round disk player for DVDs and music CDs
    2) plus other formats such as MP3s, JPEGs, CDRs
    3) audio will be output to a processor/amp
    4) video will be output to a CRT tv, though he may get a plasma in a few years
    5) region free if at all possible

He doesn't want much does he???

One suggestion he has made is the Pioneer DV370, but I have no knowledge of this player. Does anyone know how it compares to other £100 players?

    Thanks for all replies

    Frankie

i've seen the pioneer dv370 (multi region) for £63.94 delivered at www.shopbyprice.com
don't know what the site is like though as i've never used them? it does seem a cracking price though, even have some change for a decent scart lead from his £100 :smashin:

WHF have just got very excited about the Toshiba SD240 which has a list price of £79 so could be unbelievably cheap in about two weeks time. Tosh DVD's generally have great pictures even if they aren't the most solid things going.

Hell- I've spent more than that on a night out though.

Is this player just called Toshiba sd-240 or is it sd-240e or sd-240se? I'm finding it confusing to work out if there all the same thing or not.

I bought the Pioneer 370 this week. No problems with it so far. Obviously it plays DVD but I wanted to play SVCD which it does excellently. Also I tried a CD-R with JPEGS, which it plays as a slide show, lets you pause on one picture, go back, rotate the picture and zoom!
It is conne cted to a 32" TV by SCART and a receiver by a coax cable, all working well.
    It does what I want!
