    Just had a 'Blade' evening............

All was going well until about halfway thro Blade 2...

The disc has played before with no problems, and yes, my VA555ES is upgraded to V1.74, but this time, the picture suddenly started blocking badly, and the amp threw a wobbly.......
Multi channel decode light started flashing, and lost the DTS 6.1 signal for about 15 seconds.

Replayed the scene several times, and all was fine??:(

Hopefully just the player having a stressful moment (as suggested by the picture blocking) and not the amps firmware

Anyone else still having any Blade probs?

It wouldn't have been during the layer change on the disc by any chance? I have no probs with any dual layer discs normally but I found Blade 2 disc layer change to be quite long (about 4 seconds) perhaps It confused both player & amp.

    hope this helps

Definitely sounds like a DVD problem rather than an amp problem. Even if you've got the video routed through the amp, I wouldn't expect the amp to do anything to the picture that would result in blocking artefacts. I expect it was probably just a piece of dust or grime on the disc that presumably got knocked off after the first go? Certainly, if the DVD player has trouble reading the disc, the audio will cut out, potentially repeatedly if the player's repeatedly trying to lock on to the disc.

    Cheers,

    Dunc
