New Basement Cinema Room ....

Excellent progress mike,.do you have a completion date in mind?

Many thanks go out to Allan (@Ideal AV) yet again for allowing me and the family another visit last Saturday (28/04) to review where we are in the project and also I collected the X5900, mount and Ruipro HDMI lead - I just cannot wait to get everything up and running!!!

Hi again Nayfne
Originally I expected it to take around 6 - 8 weeks but think and hope that the majority will be done within the next 3 weeks .... fingers crossed!
Coolio, it's hard to put an estimate time for finishing I guess, we had a weeks break and then just hammered it home lol, all I can say is that it's so worth it in the long run, and even more so come the winter months, snuggled up watching film after film after film

Yes I cannot wait, it is just a logistical nightmare as all the works needs to be complete before the carpet goes down etc and a decorator to finish things off etc. As long as it is finished for the World Cup then that will be a massive plus too!!!

Day 11 - 30/04/18

Electrics have started today with back boxes being installed for all sockets and switches (excuse the mess!!)

Also today the heat recovery unit has been installed and ducting fitted to the inlet and outlet of the unit to allow a constant air flow within the main room.
Now you're talking sexy stuff. Tell me more about your ventilator!

Hi Jfinnie

The heat recovery system is a Vent Axia HR100RS and after a lot of searching it seems that this will do the trick to allow the exchange of air within the room.
Thanks. Looks very interesting, be interested to see what you think of it, in particular noise levels / vibration.

Looks like a great space and build, looking forward to seeing this develop :)

Days 12 & 13 - 01/05/18& 02/05/18

The first fix continued and a new consumer unit fitted with all redundant cabling removed - this took a while for all cables to be traced but now all wiring is where it should be with no stray cables hanging etc..

Speaker cabling has also been run for all speakers using Van Damme Studio Blue 4mm - a little overkill but I did get a very good deal on the cables. Ruipro HDMI 5m lead installed and CAT 7's run for projector and Van Damme Black for the JL Audio subs.

Days 14 & 15 - 03/05/18 & 04/05/18

Gyproc Soundbloc plasterboard has been installed in main room on the ceiling and now that the electric meter has moved under the gas meter then the final stud walls have been made. Further insulation added to ceilings and walls etc

The old coal chute, which is now where the CH system is being relocated has had normal plasterboard fitted and then plastered.

Overall as this is only the 3rd week this project has been running I am really pleased with the progress and as far as I am aware there are not too many more unknowns so I hope it is all plain sailing form here on in - I don't want to speak too soon though!!;)

Collected the Dali H-60's and H-80's from Allan at Ideal AV!!

Day 18 - 09/05/18

Today has been a big break through and the room has really took shape and actually feels like a room as all of the plasterboard has been added to all walls now and further panels have been plastered. Doors have been made for both the AV room where the rack is going to be installed (and a much needed storage area) and also where the gas and electric meters are housed. All very neat and out of the way on a magnetic push lock, I just need to see how that functions when the room is finished (it may need a revisit for securing the doors).

The central heating system has also progressed today and fingers crossed should be finished tomorrow.

Speeding ahead mate - you'll be watching your first film on the weekend at this rate!

Going to be awesome when it's finished. Given me a nudge to get a wiggle on with my diy jobs [emoji23]

Hi again Nate

Cheers mate and thanks for your message. Yes to be honest I think the room will be complete by next Friday fingers crossed but then I may have to wait for it to be decorated and carpet to be fitted, etc.

It is a great space and better than I originally imagined which is really pleasing!!

nthe job was complete just before the World Cup started and ended up being a big success, I couldn't believe everything went to plan in the end and please see below the results ......
