So I currently have a Soundstyle unit as per this:

Superfi - Discontinued Soundstyle Finewoods Wg3Av Av Rack (Walnut)

Does a good job but is unfortunately not very baby proof so looks like I'll need to replace it with something with glass doors to stop wandering sticky fingers from toughing things!

    Requirements are:

Hold a 50" Panny G20 plasma (will be upgraded at some point to 60-65" although that will be lighter most likely)
Denon AVRX2000 Receiver, Tivo, PS4, tiny media player and smallish center speaker (Celestion) so not too much equipment.
Only issue will be where to put the center speaker but I guess it can sit in front of the TV.

Current stand is 1200mm wide so looking at roughly the same although wiggle room either way if needed but it needs glass doors that are IR capable as everything will be shut away.

I did find this which seems like it might fit the bill

MDA Designs Cubic 1000 Modus Range Beam Thru High Gloss: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Anyone have any other recommendations? :)

EDIT - I see that the Ikea Besta range do glass doors that are IR compatible - another option :)

Actually that MDA Cubic is too small so my TV will overhang. Have seen a few others but nothing that I like for a decent price so looks like some combination from Besta range.

Hello, have you found any suitable TV/hi-fi stand? I am looking for a similar stand which would hold my 50" plasma, amplifier,cd and blu ray player, ps4 and few bits and bobs. Would prefer black finish...

I ended up getting the Besta unit as I could design and configure it how I wanted. A little higher than I liked but actually I really love it and looks great with the smoked doors and has adjustable shelves.
Has no handles at all on it so currently the little dude it unable to open anything, am sure it won't be too long before he works out how to open then :)

How tall is that? The besta i'm looking at on the ikea website is only 38cm tall... Yours looks much higher

Around 64cm I believe without the feet. I used the Besta planner to design my own setup as I wanted a certain combination of doors, draws and the open space for the speaker.

Exactly this. I put a couple of the child safety locks on the front of my AV unit, and it took him all of 5 attempts to work them out... Gotta love the little blighters!

These. Basic but most effective. Ideal with the soft close hinges

Thanks. Will try and find them as I presume they are specially made for these types of doors. Normal latches can't be screwed into the doors as they are metal.

Universal. I just drilled two small pilot holes to screw into with the provided screws. Think they were a couple of quid for a pack :)

@Lancia34 - Another thing you might want to consider, if you haven't already, is a tv safety strap, so the little one won't be able to knock/pull the TV over. :smashin:
Most should be able to be screwed to the wall with the appropriate hardware, although the one I've linked to shows it screwed to the rear of the unit.

I have got to know, are those speakers still in position like that? They look very shiny for a toddler......

Speakers are still there and have never been touched. Shiny things don't attract him, doors that open and shut do :)

I ended up locking the doors with plastic straps which are stuck to the outside and worked a treat. TV has also been swapped for a 65" so I'll definitely need a TV strap to secure it although again it hasn't really been touched (too many other distractions!)

I think it's around 64cm without the feet (it does come with small round feet pads that screw in the bottom though so you can run cables underneath it and level it).

What equipment do you all have installed in your Besta's? I'm looking at getting some sort of Besta configuration and would like to put my Yamaha AVR in there.
Any chance of some photos of the kit inside?

On one side I have my Denon X2000 on one shelf and then above that a Mede8er media player (Raspberry Pi sitting on top of it) and a PS3 next to that.
In the middle above my large draw it's the center speaker
On the right side it a Virgin TiVo on the top shelf and then PS4 with small switch and controller stand next to it.

Not really any room left but each shelf is easily big enough for a full size DVD\cable box.

One thing you will need to do is cut some reasonably sized ventilation holes in the back panel. I still leave the front door open when using my PS4 for games as it does get a bit loud with it closed.

Thanks, my AVR is around 3cm longer than yours so might to leave the back off or a section of the back off for ventilation and also to fit it in...

I have banana plugs on the back and a little wiggle room but not much. If you cut a hole big enough for your amp it should fit fine.

I looked at leaving the back off but it does help with strengthening and also even with doors it would look a bit messy especially if you have any back lighting.

What's the dimensions of the area you have your center speaker? I like the style of this unit but want to make sure it will fit my center speaker in it.
    Cheers.

It's on the site as it's the normal draw\cupboard size:

    22" wide
10" high (though the shelf is adjustable)
    15" deep

I think the hight will be fine.
Just gotta check the other dimensions.....once I find my tape measure which seems to have migrated somewhere other than my bits and bobs draw.
