I have the opportunity of spending some money on my HIFI as I have decided not to pay for Sky HD for at least the next 12 months given I have a Pioneer TV, I have about £600/700 to spend. I would like to upgrade my amp but am unsure what to buy. I have no problem buying second hand. I would split my listening to 70% music and 30% AV. Any suggestions?

Looks like I will have to make my own mind up about this one. No problem. Money is ready for tomorrow. A trawl of Preston/Manchester HIFI shops will decide.

I heard the Marantz 7500 (£670) is good musically ...

Alternatives include the Denon 2807 (£650) and Yamaha 759SE (£550).

There are a load of new Receivers coming out soon including Yamaha 1700, Denon 2307 (about £500), and Pioneer 2106 (£600).

Have a look in Richersounds in Preston. They'll have a couple out on demo that you'll be able to listen to.
