:) Hi, end of this year ARCAM will leave the DIVA range (just like before with the Delta and the Alpha range). The new name will be something like "SAGA" and will be placed between Diva and FMJ line. Pricing also between Diva and FMJ.
DVD players will be dropped in price about 40%.

:) I just can't wait to see and hear them.

SAGA - you must be joking! Without wishing to offend older people why on earth would a company launch a hi-tech product range with the same name as a company which caters specifically for older people?

    Regards,

    Jules.

Palu, where did you hear this?
I certainly hope Mr Dawson will clarify the position here before the rumour mill goes into overdrive. I was about to upgrade my system but will now, as I expect a lot of others, sit tight and see if this is true.

On my holiday in september in Cambridge I met an Arcam employee in The Mill (pub by the water in Cambridge). We talked about Hifi and Arcam etc. He told me about dropping the DIVA range end of the year and the new name of the new range. He did drink some beers so í'm not sure if the name het told me is correct, but it sounded like SAGA.

Off course iI didn't know that SAGA is something for elderly people, as I am a foreigner but it sounded like that, as stated before.

John, you should tell your staff not to taunt the elderly on their holidays. :rotfl:

Actually, Arcam is coming out with their OMEGA line. Products will be marketed as "the last kit you'll ever need."

All products in the line will be designated with model number "Infinity" as they expect improvements will never be necessary.

I plan to get the AV/P Infinity and HD-DV Infinity.

There will be no SACD Infinity.

Well, I think Mick had several beers too much, because if you want to say OMEGA and you call it SAGA, you must have had a lot of pints. Still the info on the new line is correct.

In the future i'll ask for a business card.......

No, I was perfectly serious. In fact, Andrew Dutton has been talking to me about employment with my company, because once the OMEGA line is introduced, Arcam engineers won't have anything left to do.

Oh, and I was wrong about the HD-DV Infinity model. It's just DV Infinity. Turns out its video resolution isn't HD. It's continuosly variable to infinity, and adapts automatically for higher resolution sources and displays as the rest of the industry catches up.

And the AI control software for all OMEGAs is written in Lisp, automatically implementing new control facts and rules based on use.

I heard a different explanation. An Arcam service engineer told me that the ranges were named in honour of John's college fraternity - Delta Alpha Omega.

I think Andy must have been pulling your leg...

    Cheers,
    Liam

That explains Arcam's code name for their new car audio line, Deathmobile.

Thank you sir. May I please have another....
