I would be biased as I would have to say Yamaha especially if you like the sound. If you can afford it get the 2400 over the 1400. It has more power and you can use the 7.1 setup with both the presence speakers at the same time for more effects. It has a good remote, the denon has had problems with the remotes. As the 1400 has been discontinueed you might be able to get a good deal on it at the moment.:D

    Please explain above?

I will be using a Pronto so the romote is not an issue.

Why not the Denon 2805 also?

yammys are decent for home cinema but suck at music. i had the RXV-800RDS for years and when i got my sony i was stunned by it musicality. I think hyperfi have some Sony ES models in stock at very good prices. Try the Sony STR-VA333ES, i think it was £299 down from £800. its got all the latest processing and 7 channels of amplification.

Denon also would be a good choice. see if you can spot a 3803 cheap from somewhere.

If you really want a yammy i'd suggest trying to hunt down one of there higher end but older models at a knockdown price.

    That old (now untrue) chestnut.

Try the RX-V2400/1400 or the new 750 amp to see just how they've improved.

I'll vouch for that - my music sounds crisp, clear and extremely loud!

Yes I had a Yamaha RX-V795 and the RX-V1400 is just in a different class to it for music, so as others have said give the new Yamaha range a listen and you may be pleasantly suprised.

I was thinking of buying one of these as well but AVLand's website now has this as discontinued.

Is there a new product coming?

    :rotfl: Soooo true!

Hopefully the new one will allow you to use the prescence speakers in 7.1 mode. If so, I think I'll wait. :)

    Many thanks
