I currently own a Sony 925 Receiver. Had it about 4yrs and can't recall a problem with it.

I've decided its time to upgrade!!!

It will need to have the obvious DD5.1/DTS & preferably PLII. It will also need to please me in the music department:blush: !!!!
Although I'm not at all bothered about a built in tuner.

Any recomendations, I'm guessing from previous threads, Sony isn't necesarilly the way to go! I'm on a budget of about £500.

Naturally all help appreciated!

Ive just purchased the yamaha rxv - 1200 from sevenoaks in cambridge. Ive connected these to 6 x kef eggs and 2 x B & W 601s2 and Rel Quake Sub.
Its a bit confusing to set the thing up but yamaha talked me through. Ive only had the amp for 2 days but these so many teaking that can be done and guess what it actually sounds good in Stero.
The remote is a bit annoying but i'll be updating this soon.
I tested the Denon 3802, Sony StRA - 555es and Arcam AVR - 200.
The Denon for me sounded to warm and the higher frequencys hurt my ears, the Sony sounded pretty good which i tested with my Pioneer 737 but when i went to lift the DVD player from on top of the sony reciever it actually was so hot i dropped the 737 on the floor and finally the Arcam only had 5 speaker inputs.

But thats my experiences the best thing to do is actually go and listen to a few.

Good Luck:cool:

I might be selling a black, as-new Denon 3802 here in about a week or so. Looking for £450.

MuFu.

What did you make of your new REL Quake sub?? I'm thinking of this for a 1500 cu.ft lounge and space is important. The mags rave but the 'specialists'are not so hot??

Well I use it in a 5 x 5 metres room and it defintely fills the room. Theres so many adjusements you can make, also its not that fussy in placement, hopefully when i move into a bigger house i will most probably purchase another one, but at the minute this sub is perfect for me. What speakers are you gonna be using it with ?

Wasn't my post about Amp Recomendations???

I thought there was another section for speakers & subs

Why not try something a bit differant, like Harman Kardon, nakamichi or Onkyo

At least demo something other than the usual suspects!
