My insurers are replacing my old receiver with a Sony STRDB790 - I have decided to replace the old Sony speakers which were 'crap anyway' with a new speaker set up. Amy recommendations that will compliment the new amp/receiver would be gratefully received.

    Sony STRDB790

    Good amp but bright sound.

Carefully match needed, no bright speakers like B%W or even Monitor Audio...

How much do you want to spend? Can you accomodate floorstanders or are you after smaller compact speaker??

Mordaunt Short 904's or 912's depending on your budget. Quality floorstanders which are not that bright IMO (even though they have metal tweeters).

If you can afford more, audition some Ruark & Tannoy floorstanders.

MS's are quite bright and forward imo

Mission M33/m3c2/M3ds/M3c1 combo with a MJ acoustics Pro 50 sub sounds like the best combo with the Sony amp to me

I would advise other Mission models: Mission M33/m3c2/M30 + Rel Quake if Sub needed

I wouldn't advise Mordaunt Short Speakers with this amp, it has a reputation of being VERY bright, you need something to mellow them down like a set of Kef's or Missions.
