I'm looking to replace my old Sony STR-D1015 reciever which is a bit lacking in rear surround power with a new one. My current separate main speakers for music are 4ohm so I need a reciever that will handle them also as separates or even in conjunction with the Bose surround system (8ohm) like I have the Sony currently set up. I also have an old Yamaha M-85 amp good for 330watts per side at .02% THD that I was wondering about the possibilities of utilizing for the mains; I don't know if this is possible with the new recievers or if it is even a good idea. Any suggestions, options or recomendations would be greatly appreiciated.

I really could use some help on this! Would something like the Yamaha RX-V3300 do what I am wanting to do in conjunction with the old amp; or is this such a stupid idea that it deserves no response?
