I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now and many thanks to everyone who posts as the opinions given are invaluable when looking to spend the hard earned.
I am the now proud owner of a 42PWD7 :smashin: (bought as a bundle with Composite/component boards, Tosh sd44, wall mount, etc) I've got a couple of bits that I can't settle on....

Should I drag back the levels while "running in" the unit?? and if so for how long?? Read that some people do, some don't and some do for 200 hours??????

Also, looking to get the plasma pro tuned but how long should I wait before the levels have settled enough for me to get the best from the service??

I too am now in receipt of my 42" PWD7....it does look the dog's ******...at the moment I'm just running the Sky composite through a Yamaha 750 receiver, and then component into the plasma....but still looks well cool to me. I have turned my contrast and brightness down to -20, and will leave it there for the first 200 hours....it's a small price to pay for peace of mind, but I suspect the risks are small (zero !?).

Regarding ISF, I believe it's a good idea to "run" the plasma in for a while....but someone else (Eg an ISF engineer) would hopefully be able to tell you properly.

Thanks RuddyRoad, totally agree that they look the dbs but my video boards haven't turned up yet so its an attractive picture frame at the moment??? Not happy!!!

I guess its better to be safe than sorry when running it in, just can't see what impact that has on the viewing pleasure until I get it connected.... How's it look to you??
As for the ISF the missus has banned me from spending anymore money for a while so it'll have to wait anyway??? I just like the idea of getting the best out of the unit rather than me pushing levels up and down for fun!! And from what I've read from others it's seems to make a big difference.

When did you order yours - i assume you ordered the board and screen at different times??

seems strange they didnt send you all your kit and the same time.

Was hoping to get delivery for Friday but they are choc-o-block with orders, so it looks mon/tues next week.

Just wanna get it set-up and put on the wall - got to shift my whole lounge around for this plasma -

I had mine in two delivers too.

Had the boards and the stand in the first delivery about 10:30am

And the screen came at 2:15pm....And I agree it is agony, I was looking out the window every 5mins, just could not relax...

But it was worth the wait, clocked up 120 hours now...

Ordered mine as a bundle through Ebuyer last Tuesday, I've used these a load for PC equipment without problem and they said it would be here on Friday - which it was except for the all important video boards????? I've hooked up the SD44 and had a play and its very nice, much better than my previous stand alone 5-1. But I just want to see the PWD running! ! Woe is me!!!

I've been running an Optoma EP750 for the past 2 years now and I want to put the 2 side by side and praise myself on making the right choice.... Or have the missus chew my ear off if the Panny doesn't come up to scratch :suicide:

Now that the 7 series has been around for a few months it is becoming clear that Panasonic's claims about screen burn being comparable to a CRT are justified. I would still advise not to use the dynamic setting, and avoid leaving static images on for hours at a time (particularly games speedos etc.).

ISF is best done after about 200 hours once the panel has had a chance to "run in".

Thanks Piers, hopefully you'll have a customer once my 200 hours are up.... providing I ever get a video board... Pretty handy you being based in Shropshire.

Does anyone have the PW7 manual in PDF format they can email me??

Been on the Panasonic website and they dont have it in there downloads section. Was hoping to have a read before getting the screen on Mon/Tues.

Be nice to see what screen modes are avaliable etc etc.

Thanks Piers, I appreciate the offer.
I'm convinced the boards will be ready and waiting for me when I get back tonight but if not I might well take you up on that.
I'm thinking it's just not meant to be as the Alphason Stand (AG94/2s) I've ordered is also out of stock for 10 days...

    cyberbob,

20 minutes from Dudley - hope to hear from you in due course.

    Shhtaagg,

If they aren't there give me a ring - and I may even be able to help out with a temp stand.

    Stevie,

I have seen them in the classifieds on this forum quite regularly.

    Shhtaag,

The picture looks fine even with the brightness and contrast turned down, except a lot of the lady's look like they have got 6 o'clock shadow ! I did have a sneaky look with the settings back up and it was even better. I am certainly very happy with the picture quality, and was doubly pleased to find no audio delay when passing all the signals through the amp, although it does have an audio delay function if required.

Good luck getting the boards, but that was a very nice offer of the converter from Piers.
