    Okay, bit of light relief.

The six contestants below all want to work with children, travel the world and campaign for global peace. But we just want to see them in their swimwear. Er ... well, anyway.

So c'mon. Which ones tickle your fancy? Which would you like to wine, dine or redesign?

(They're doing it for charity, I might add - but they don't like talking about it ...)

Oh, and which are the ugly sisters? Feel free to post the real dogs here, too!

Apple iPod and iRiver for me. I cant see any superior player in the looks department...the Sleek isnt bad looking, but it just looks normal. The cross thingy on the Gigabeat makes it look stupid and i generally dont like the looks of it. When i first saw the HD5 i thought euck! but its grown on me slightly, i still think it looks like an ugly duckling...but then its the best cus of the battery life. The iAudio in my opinion of MINGING! in other words....digusting for those people who dont come from liverpool

Id Have to say the Creative Zen Micro 20gig model should be up there in the nice looked players, along with the new Samsung J70.

However, the creative zen touch is definatly in the bin, imo, its hideous, id never buy one..also...its a brick! The previous samsung players belong in the bin aswell

Yeh the zen is alrt, but they dont offer the 20gig model in all the various colours do they so its a bit of a downfall, jus black and white, s'pose they wanted to diferentiate them from the cheaper players.

Where the J70 is concerned, apart from the fingerprint magnet plastic, i think it is a nice player, principally because its a bit different to the players on the market at the moment, with the big bulge at the top. i can see why your not so sure, but everybody has their own preferances...isnt that the whole idea of a pole lol

Does the J70 mark as easily as an iPod, then?

from the reviews i have read the J70 attracts the fingerprints with its low quailty plastic and from pictures its evident, i can imagaine the back of an iPod does aswell...but i have never actually seem one in real life, unless u count a mini or shuffle...no1 round here has hard drive players, well 20gig 1's at least, they all prefer microdrive or flash players, on the purpose that, they will never listen to all of the music on their player. Personally, i couldnt persieve myself going having only half my music collection with me

Round here? Oh yeah, Liverpool, right? My grandad's from there ...

Know what you mean about capacity. Couldn't make do with a microdrive. Seemed a waste of money somehow. But anyway, back to the topic, I still think the Zen is a bit nicer than the J70.

People would actually vote the HD5 ahead of the iPod in a beauty contest?? Look, I like the HD5 as a DAP as much as the next guy, but surely this is just "iPod fatigue".

    11 votes for the NW-HD5(H) !!!

A bit of bias creeping in here people ..... ;)

I own one but you can't say it's an attractive unit surely.

I don't really like any of them but the Gigabeat is the closest to my vision of what constitutes a good looking player.

I voted for the HD5 (as well as the Sleek and the H-10) because it looks better up close than it does on screen. In all honesty, though, the iPod with the colour screen does have quite a WOW! factor. Easy to see why the original iPod became a design icon, however tired we are of it now ...

I think the Samsung YH-J70 is the nicest looking perhaps the white one slightly more than the black, still undecided. Second place the Toshiba.

I'm stunned! People really think the HD5 is that much of a looker? I love the device, but I'd sooner it looked like the Sleek or H-10.

I voted H10, but because I've never seen the H10 20gb I might have made a mistake there. Overall the H10 is a lovely looking thing, its just that iRiver are too slow releasing the new one.

    HD5 is the second best.

    iPod just looks dated now.

I personally think my HD5 in red is very nice looking. Screenshots of it from sites make it look like a dog, but in person its very nice. My old red H10 5gb was the best looking player on the market imho but the 20gb is a chunky version of that so not sure. Just voting HD5 (only in red mind ;)).

iPod is just too plain, once you've had one and the nostalgia wears off, I think they just seem bland. The Zen Sleek is a double bagger :D in screenshots, but think it may look better in person. The samsung is not that great looking. The iAudio is pretty sleek but dunno, something about it just doesn't look right. I like the look of the Gigabeat, that would be second on my list of choices...very nice screen and brushed aluminium.

Downside to the hd5 are the plasticy bits.

The Colour iPod does look very nice, but in the end I went for the HD5 which looks a lot better in real life than it does in that picture - because of the iPod's scratchable back plate.

A lot of those players sort of look like electric razors...

I am genuinely gobsmacked! HD5 emerging as best looking? Please tell me this isn't just an iPod backlash ...

 - Not just emerging, it's trouncing the competition.

It seems the "ugly duckling" may well be a swan after all.

Bummer for those of us that were hoping Sony would improve the look in future models.

I think it looks like a Gameboy and whilst that is ok for an early model games console I don't think it's appropriate, personally, for a premium brand MP3 player.

In all seriousness, there are better looking players than the HD5. I really didn't expect so many people to feel so strongly about how it looks! Push came to shove? I'd want a DAP with the iPod Mini's looks!

Yeah its kinda odd IMO as well. I thought the normal silver and red ones looked ugly while the black one looked "ok." I love the iAudio's screen but I don't like the rest of it, it looks too dull.
