    Hi All,

Does anyone know about this new model and when it's coming out to the UK?

Wanted to upgrade from my original fat PS3 and think the new PS4 model would be ideal to get started with some quality games, like L.O.U and Witcher 3.

It's got a quite a few changes, double the storage, lighter, more power efficient and comes in a matte finish instead of gloss.

I wouldn't think it a essential upgrade to an existing PS4, but if I was buying my first PS4 then I would want the newest model, even if the improvements are minor.

When choosing between various models of PS4 I just pick whichever is most visually appealing to me. I don't like the standard black consoles or controllers so I would never buy one of those, I'm tempted to upgrade my white model to the Metal Gear console but then I don't like that half of the console is still black. At this stage I will probably wait for a special edition version of the slim model in a couple of years.

I have also heard that it's forgoing the touch-sensitive buttons for normal ones.

I though the 1tb was exactly the same as the current model. It's the 1200 series (500gb) that is lighter, uses less power etc.

That model has just been released in Japan, but I have not read anything about a UK release date yet.

Unfortunately you are correct, the 1tb 'ultimate player edition' is still using existing PS4 models just with a larger drive. In a few months they'll likely start putting the new updated models in there.

This model is released today but can't find any info as to the diff to the normal 500 gb model.

Can anyone confirm this just doesn't have extra hard drive, but it's lighter and uses less power?

Also there seem to be hardly any bundle deals at the moment for the 1 TB model.

As has been stated above, the 1tb 'ultimate player edition' is the original model. The new 1200 series is currently only available in Japan.

Cant see there being an official drop to the RRP anytime soon. Sony just don't need to as they are selling them as fast as they can make them !!

Having said that, I have seen several deals over the last few months for £260 ish PS4's on their own, or the crazy £279 amazon deal that included Batman.

Moving on from fat PS3 to PS4 for the first time.

Just jumped at the price for a white version with 3 crap games for £289. Given up waiting for good deals on 1TB model. Collecting it tomorrow from Tesco. Son likes the white version better, as he would be playing far more than me. Hope the white version is quieter than the release model?

The games come that with it are not the best in the world and would sell it. Ordered LOU remastered, as he played it on PS3 and wants to play the PS4 version. Waiting for Fallout 4 and other killer titles this winter.

Now I used to use Blu ray remote for watching Blu Ray on PS3, that won't work on PS4, so not sure what to use for Blu ray as a remote.

Dualshock 4 (not ideal) or turn on HDMI control on your TV & PS4 & you should be able to control most playback functions using your TV remote. Not as good as a dedicated remote, but a good stop gap until the official remote comes out, hopefully in October.

Have you collected it/LOU shipped yet?
Got an email from shopto last night. They seem to have the updated model in black available. Same price as your bundle, but better games (including LOU)?

    Just spoke to ST
The only newer model we have is for the Black 500gb console at this time. We will be waiting for Sony to issue us the new version of the white console and the 1TB, but unfortunately we do not know when this may be

    Cheers

    Thanks for your useful info.

LOU has been delivered just now from E-bay and I'm due to collect the white console bundle from Tesco later this afternoon. The son prefers the white console and not sure how long before the new version of CUH-1200 is available in white.

Set up the new PS4 yesterday evening. It's sleek and white does look quite nice. The control pad is better. However, the fan noise seems to be noisier the fat PS3! Thought things have moved on a bit.

I always fear when they say things are x% lighter usually that means inferior cost saving parts in my experience. I'm all for the system using less electricity through smaller motherboards etc but i always fear they are in cost saving mode when they release these hardware revisions

I got a PS4 1TB recently from Amazon and wanted to know whether one could buy a matte HD cover part (like the Japanese version) as opposed to the usual glossy black one we get as standard? Sounds simple enough swap surely?

    hi all

are the 1TB models still the old technology? I need to replace my old PS3 as it doesn't support TrueHD out via Bitstream so I can't get Atmos from my PS3, rather than have another device (standalone blu ray player) I'd rather just chop it for a PS4.

Don't game too much anymore so I'm leaning towards the 500GB as being enough but for the little difference in price I'd go with a 1TB if it was the new hardware now......

    Cheers

The 1Tb model is available with the latest CUH-1200 (or CUH-1216 to be exact) tech as the one I purchased from GAME just over a month ago was exactly that. Some retailers will likely still be selling old stock so you're not guaranteed to get one if ordering online but you could always ask in store to check the model number.

Nevertheless if you don't game much as you say, 500GB will be more than plenty.

As long as it's the cuh 1200 , then you will be fine , should keep nice and quiet for years to come if your only using it for a bluray player ,
if deiced to fill it with games , have a look out for a seagate 2tb backup plus , during the black friday deals , then you'll have more storage than you'll even need

The 1Tb CUH1216 has been out a while now mate. I ordered my 1Tb via GAME online and was just fortunate enough to get the 1216 tech.

As said, it'll likely be hit and miss what tech you get until the old stock is completely shifted, unless you ask in store, but they're definitely available.

Does anyone know if the 1tb Star Wars Limited Edition will be the new model?
